Role
Benchmark study to identify best in class features/ design ideas
Study earlier failure modes and ensure countermeasure incorporation in new designs through DFMEA
Drawing study and verify key design parameters. Identify gaps and close loop before die-go release
Verify DVP testing results, wear rate and identify critical concerns that need resolution and support for closure of the same. Define new test menus where needed
Verification of LL / Past failures / DFMEA's / PTS tracking monitoring - Closure of all issues at key milestones
A purpose driven role for you
Play a key role in validating the Engine Proprietary parts in new model development - Piston assy/ Bearings/ Oil pump/ Water pump/ Radiator/ Fuel pump/ Throttle body/ Air cleaner/ Injector, etc
A Day in the life
1. Study design parameters and predict potential concerns from market for evaluation – need for robustness
2. Liaise closely with design teams for driving product robustness – influence positive changes
3. Capture trends in warranty data which will need specific interventions in new designs – needs specific domain expertise in cranktrain and valvetrain
4. Internal and external stakeholder management & alignment for:
a) Design and testing teams
b) Liaise jointly with NPV teams during development
c) PP1 testing
d) Assembly Trials, Common part issue resolution
e) Base Model issue resolution, Market Issue resolution, Warranty analysis
f) DFMEA discussions and testing issues resolution
Academic Qualification & Experience
B.Tech Mechanical with Min. 8 yrs hands on experience in Engine proprietary parts development and good understanding of key functional parameters and failure modes – exposure to key suppliers
Technical Skills/Knowledge
• Drawing study , GD&T , Inspection methods
• Testing and validation - Crankshaft balancing, Valvetrain validation, Basic FEA understanding, critical design parameters, wear parameters
• Manufacturing processes - Forging, casting, machining, heat treatment
• Knowledge of DFMEA AIAG-VDA
• Process audits , Process knowledge
• Systematic problem solving / RCA’s / 8D
