Senior System Engineer (Onboard Diagnostics Controls Engineer)

Requisition Summary:

PACCAR India is looking for a skilled Senior System Engineer to join its dynamic team in Pune. The role supports engine integration activities by defining and evaluating onboard diagnostic strategies that ensure robust system monitoring and regulatory compliance for heavy ‑ duty diesel engines.

The role involves supporting automotive systems engineering activities across the full software development lifecycle, with contributions to requirements development, system design, documentation, and validation.

Job Function / Responsibilities:

- Support functional architecture design for onboard diagnostic functions within diesel engine control systems.

- Develop OBD/OBM control concepts and functional monitors for engine and aftertreatment systems in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

- Assess the impact of hardware changes and control strategy updates on diagnostic functionality.

- Define diagnostic and engine control requirements, develop rapid control prototype models, and perform function-level iFMEA.

- Analyse engine and vehicle data to support functional specification development and diagnostic evaluation.

- Maintain requirements and specification traceability throughout the software development lifecycle (V-model)

Qualification:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics / Automobile Engineering

Required Skills:

- Technical / Professional Experience Requirements: 6 to 8 years

- Domain: Automotive – Onboard Diagnostics and Engine Control Systems

- Primary Skill: OBD concepts; diagnostic strategies; requirement definition for engine and aftertreatment systems; MATLAB/Simulink; scripting.

- Secondary Skills: IBM DNG (DOORS); IBM Rhapsody; Python.
