About this role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Consultant specializing in Global Mobility to join our dynamic tax advisory team. In this role, you will work in a collaborative team on diverse projects related to personal taxation, social security, immigration, and payroll for internationally mobile employees.

You will manage tax advisory and compliance projects, maintain ongoing client relationships, and contribute to the development of junior colleagues. You will collaborate with specialists from Romania and across the international Forvis Mazars network, gaining exposure to multicultural environments and cross-border projects.

We’re always looking ahead – for you, our clients and the communities we’re part of. Together, we grow, belong and impact.

We’ll support you to learn, explore, and grow as you take this journey with us. Here, you’ll feel safe to share bold ideas and unique perspectives. After all, success comes from working together. At Forvis Mazars, you’ll belong to your local team, gain global experience and have an impact – now and in the future.

What will you do:

- Analyze the individuals’ tax implication of international mobility scenarios, including tax residency, employment income and employment-related income, and the application of double tax treaties.
- Advise clients on cross-border employment arrangements, international assignments, and the related tax, social security, immigration, and payroll considerations.
- Coordinate compliance processes, including tax registrations, personal income tax returns, tax equalization and payroll calculations, and immigration-related formalities.
- Prepare technical advice, memoranda, reports, and client communications.
- Review calculations, tax returns, and other deliverables prepared by junior colleagues, providing guidance, technical support, and feedback.
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, monitor deadlines, and maintain proactive communication with clients and internal teams.
- Participate in client meetings and support discussions with the relevant authorities when required.
- Keep up to date with legislative and regulatory developments and contribute to technical alerts, client updates, and internal knowledge-sharing materials.
- Contribute to business development initiatives, proposal preparation, and client relationship activities in collaboration with the management team.

What we need from you for this job:

- At least 3 years of relevant experience in personal taxation and/or Global Mobility advisory;
- A university degree in economics, law, or another relevant field; postgraduate studies or professional tax qualifications are considered an advantage.
- Solid knowledge of personal income tax and social security contributions, together with an interest in international taxation, double tax treaties, social security coordination, and immigration matters.
- The ability to work independently on complex assignments with limited supervision and experience reviewing the work of junior team members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Romanian and English; knowledge of an additional foreign language is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and practical manner.
- A client-focused mindset, commitment to quality, a proactive and practical approach, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects.

What we offer:

- A competitive financial package, including but not limited to budget for a flexible benefit platform, health insurance, yearly performance bonuses and, based on your tenure within Forvis Mazars, private pension fund;
- An environment where personal development is encouraged;
- Intensive training through internal and external training sessions;
- Support in obtaining relevant professional qualifications, full program costs supported by Forvis Mazars and extra 5 days/year for training purposes;
- A collaborative and people-focused culture that encourages knowledge sharing, initiative, and continuous development;
- Exposure to local and international clients across a wide range of industries, as well as diverse and challenging Global Mobility projects.
