About the role
We run one of the most diverse database estates in the business, spanning Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB, hosted across multiple data centres
You'll keep this estate healthy, secure and fast, and you'll play a real part general migration efforts. This isn't a "keep the lights on and nothing else" job. Half your time is operations, half is projects that actually move the needle.
What you'll actually do
Administer, tune and support production and non-production databases across Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB.
Handle incidents, service requests, change requests and vulnerability remediation through ServiceNow, following ITIL practice.
Build and improve monitoring and observability using Splunk, Zabbix and OpenTelemetry-based database metrics.
Automate the boring stuff, patching and provisioning via Ansible, GitHub and NinjaOne.
Work security-first: Imperva, Nessus, CyberArk, and alignment with ISO 27001, SOX, CIS and GDPR controls.
What you bring
3–5+ years hands-on database administration across at least two of: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB.
Solid SQL skills and real experience with performance tuning, backup/recovery and high availability.
Exposure to heterogeneous database migrations (Oracle to PostgreSQL/SQL Server is a big plus).
Comfort in virtualised environments (VMware/vSphere, GCP/GCVE/AWS) and mixed Linux/Windows hosting.
Working knowledge of ServiceNow and/or Jira, and ITIL processes (incident, change, problem).
Scripting and automation instincts (Ansible, PowerShell, shell, Python).
Fluent English; other European languages welcome.
An ownership mindset, curious, proactive, and a genuine team player.
Nice to have
Cloud database exposure (GCP Cloud SQL / AlloyDB, AWS RDS).
Certifications in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
Experience with observability tooling (like Splunk & Zabbix).
