Insurance Administrative Assistant

Reports to: Insurance Associate

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours : 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., unless otherwise dictated. (One (1) Hour Lunch)

Job Location: 3500 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus OH 43207; This position is primarily in-person.

General Overview: Under direct supervision, assists the assigned department in all areas as needed. This person should consistently demonstrate Integrity, Gratitude, Excellence, and Leadership.

Responsibilities:

- Provides administrative support to the Safety department’s insurance function, including data entry, document review and preparation, and filing

- Handles incoming emails and correspondence related to insurance inquiries

- Assists in maintaining and updating company, employee, customer, and subcontractor commercial and auto insurance compliance

- Communicates with internal and external customers to obtain or provide necessary documentation and information

- Assists with annual business insurance renewal

- Reviews documentation to ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations

- Assists with insurance program enrollment and compliance

- Supports insurance associate with special projects and audits as needed

- Knows and adheres to all Company policies and procedures

- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- Two (2) or more years of administrative or office support experience

- Prior experience in insurance or financial services is preferred

- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. (George J. Igel & Co., Inc. is a Substance Use Prevention and Recovery Drug-Free Workplace and tests for marijuana)

- Must maintain an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that meets the Company’s eligibility

- Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement upon hire

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Knowledge of general insurance concepts and practices

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation

- Strong organizational and time management skills

- Skilled in handling sensitive and confidential information with a high level of discretion

- Ability to use a personal computer and/or iPad and relevant software for extended periods

- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)

- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships

- Ability to work independently and in a team environment

- Ability to manage workload independently and meet dynamic deadlines
