Were looking for a grounded, experienced Area Director to lead our local teams across the State. This position will be based out of an office north of Augusta while overseeing local operations across Central and Northern Maine. if youre a natural leader who isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves, knows how to guide a team with heart, and understands the real-world ins and outs of Maine's social services and regulatory environment, youll fit right in.
As an Area Director , youll be the steady anchor for our Program Managers and regional team. Youll make sure our values aren't just words on a page, but show up every day in the quality of care we deliver, the way we support our staff, and how we manage our day-to-day operations across our office network.
What Youll Be Doing
- Oversee and mentor local Program Managers. Youll hire good people, help them grow, build a strong bench of future leaders, and keep morale high.
- Keep a close eye on the practical side of things. Manage regional office budgets, keep labor costs sensible, and review weekly payroll and billing across multiple sites.
- Maintain safety and compliance. Ensure our programs run safely, ethically, and in full compliance with Maine state guidelines and reporting requirements (including Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation protocols). When challenges arise, youll investigate issues and implement sensible, long-term solutions.
- Build authentic relationships. Connect with client families, Maine state agencies (such as DHHS), and community groups. Youll represent our mission and advocate for the work we do.
- Lead key operations. Serve as the hands-on lead for state projects, grants, and specialized program contracts.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Bachelors degree in human services and five years of experience in related position in social services or healthcare setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 -10 years of progressive supervisory experience in a healthcare setting or related field.
- Valid state issued drivers license and proof of current vehicle insurance.
