THE ROLE

We're hiring a QA Technician at our Utah Facility. You'll inspect raw materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards, customer specifications, and engineering drawings, as part of our Quality team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Perform incoming, in-process, and final product inspections per established inspection plans, including dimensional verification and coating inspections, and maintain accurate inspection records

- Visually inspect welded joints for compliance, detecting flaws such as cracks, cold welds, spatter, and undercuts per ES1124 and other specifications

- Verify finished product dimensions and conformance with drawings and work order specifications

- Inspect and help release received raw materials, supplied components, and finished products, ensuring compliance with drawings, purchase orders, specifications, and MTRs

- Proficiently operate measurement equipment, including tape measures, calipers, thread gauges, go/no-go gauges, dial indicators, micrometers, height gauges, and coating thickness gauges

- Prepare nonconformance reports (NCRs) and assist with corrective and preventive action (CAPA) documentation, including root cause analysis using 5 Whys and Fishbone methodologies

- Identify, isolate, and label nonconforming materials, and notify the Global QA Manager and Production Manager/Supervisor of any discrepancies

- Assist with calibration of inspection instruments and gauges, and update calibration records

- Support internal quality audits in accordance with ISO 9001 standards, and assist with supplier audits and quality investigations
- Support Statistical Process Control (SPC) data collection and monitoring, and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) where applicable
- Assist with training of production employees and communicate with shift supervisors, engineering, and other quality personnel on quality-related issues

- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen improvement events

- Maintain safe work conditions, proper PPE usage, and an organized work area; escalate safety, quality, or process concerns immediately

- Perform other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU NEED

- High school diploma

- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite

- Good written and oral communication skills

- Ability to work independently, efficiently, self-motivated, and detail oriented

- Ability to physically perform testing such as dye-penetrant, magnetic particle, and dry film thickness

- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required

NICE TO HAVE

- Experience in a manufacturing/steel fabrication environment

- Working knowledge of arc welding processes for carbon, stainless, and alloy metals

- Familiarity with liquid and powder type coatings

- Familiarity with ASTM specifications, AWWA standards, and AWS/ASME welding codes

- Good understanding of shop math and ability to read a tape measure and measuring tools

- Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints

- Good problem-solving capabilities

- Bilingual (English/Spanish)

COMPENSATION

The hourly pay range for this position is $24-28 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and geographic location. This role may also be eligible for shift differentials, overtime pay, and the full benefits package described above
