The Copilot Work Memory team is evolving memory from user's work context & history continuity into a governed, evaluable, multi-source capability grounded in user's real communications, documents, meetings and work content. The team is solving hard product and technical problems across memory generation, freshness, retrieval, serving, evaluation, transparency, safety, privacy, latency, and cost. We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to own key product areas for Memory in Copilot Chat. This role requires strong technical fluency, excellent end-to-end product judgment, and a hands-on approach to AI quality and evaluation. You will translate customer needs, product signals, and competitive gaps into clear platform and experience requirements, then align engineering, applied science, design, research, security, privacy, and partner teams to deliver measurable customer impact. You ll also work across other teams driving critical parts of Copilot Memory (eg Chat Memory) The ideal candidate combines customer obsession with systems thinking: someone who can move comfortably from user scenarios and interaction flows to quality metrics, experiment design, platform tradeoffs, and executive-level decisions. You will operate with significant autonomy in a fast-moving area and help establish the product practices that allow Copilot Memory to improve safely and rapidly. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.</div> Responsibilities <div dir="ltr"><ul><li>Own product strategy, roadmap, and execution for key Work Memory capabilities in Copilot Chat, connecting customer scenarios to platform investments and measurable outcomes. </li><li>Define end-to-end user experiences for how Copilot captures, refreshes, retrieves, uses, explains, and allows users to control memory across relevant Copilot Chat scenarios. </li><li>Translate customer needs, usage and feedback signals, support themes, and competitive insights into durable platform-level requirements rather than one-off feature solutions. </li><li>Lead the product quality and evaluation strategy for your area, including representative scenario sets, rubrics, offline evaluations, synthetic or controlled test environments, online metrics, experiment design, regression protection, and failure analysis. </li><li>Partner closely with engineering and applied science on technical choices across generation, storage, retrieval, freshness, context budgeting, latency, cost, and model behavior; make clear tradeoffs and drive decisions. </li><li>Establish success measures spanning relevance, freshness, personalization utility, task completion, engagement, customer satisfaction, trust, safety, performance, and operational health. </li><li>Drive trustworthy product design through transparency, citations or explanations where appropriate, user controls, lifecycle clarity, auditability, privacy, Responsible AI, and enterprise compliance requirements. </li><li>Build solid cross-company partnerships across Copilot Chat, Microsoft 365, Work IQ, agents, platform, design, research, security, privacy, marketing, and customer-facing teams; manage dependencies and create clarity in ambiguous spaces. </li><li>Communicate strategy, quality insights, risks, and recommendations crisply to senior leaders and stakeholders; run effective product reviews and decision-making rhythms. </li><li>Model AI-forward product management through rapid learning, prototyping, data-informed iteration, direct customer engagement, and mentorship of other product managers. </li></ul></div> Qualifications Required Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development<ul><li>OR equivalent experience. </li></ul></li></ul>Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Experience defining and delivering end-to-end software products, features, or platform capabilities with measurable customer or business impact. </li><li>Technical fluency in evaluating AI products with the ability to work deeply with engineering and applied science partners. </li><li>Experience using data, telemetry, experimentation, product evaluations, or structured quality methods to make product decisions and improve outcomes. </li><li>Demonstrated product judgment across customer scenarios, user journeys, interaction design, prioritization, and platform tradeoffs. </li><li>Experience translating customer feedback and market or competitive signals into clear product requirements and roadmaps. </li><li>Ability to align and influence stakeholders across organizational boundaries, communicate clearly with senior audiences, and drive execution through ambiguity. </li><li>Technical fluency in building AI/ML platforms or products </li><li>Experience with memory, personalization, search and retrieval, RAG/grounding, agentic systems, orchestration, knowledge systems, or conversational AI. </li><li>Experience shipping enterprise AI experiences with strong privacy, security, compliance, governance, safety, and Responsible AI requirements. </li><li>Experience with Microsoft 365, Copilot, or enterprise productivity products and the needs of both end users and tenant administrators. </li><li>Solid executive presence and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical and product issues into clear decisions and action. </li><li>A self-directed, resilient, and collaborative working style; curiosity, attention to detail, and a bias toward learning and execution. </li></ul>#CAP #Copilot Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
