Mechanical Construction Superintendent, Central Utilities

The Mechanical Construction Superintendent will work closely with Project Management, Infrastructure Engineering, Project Controls, and Procurement from install through start of production. This role supervises all on-site mechanical construction for central utilities, including scheduling of trade contractors, utility and structure work, and vendor equipment installations, while ensuring compliance with plans and specifications and tracking project schedule and budget.

Central utilities scope typically includes chilled water, process cooling, heating hot water, steam, compressed air, process piping, HVAC, and related mechanical equipment (chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, air handlers, and associated controls).

- Coordinate and supervise all on-site mechanical construction activities, including piping, equipment setting, insulation, welding, and mechanical trades
- Drive the project schedule and elevate construction issues, RFIs, and field conflicts to management
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing applicable state and OSHA regulations
- Schedule and lead quality control and site safety inspections, including weld inspections, NDE hold points, pressure tests, and turnover packages
- Coordinate with tool vendors and equipment suppliers as needed to support successful install, hookup, and start-up
- Coordinate mechanical work with civil, structural, electrical, and controls to avoid conflicts and protect the critical path
- Manage daily contractor performance, manpower, and productivity against schedule and budget

- Previous experience as a Superintendent on industrial facility construction, brownfield construction, building renovation, or tenant improvement projects

- Direct experience supervising mechanical trades on utilities, process piping, HVAC, or similar industrial systems

- Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals

- Experience with design-build projects

- Working knowledge of piping codes and standards, including ASME B31.1 (Power Piping) and/or ASME B31.3 (Process Piping), ASME Section IX welding requirements, and related material, fabrication, examination, and testing standards

- Understanding of construction design documents (P&IDs, isometrics, piping specs) and the ability to provide constructability feedback prior to and during construction

- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite, email, and scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project)
