Alpharetta Veterinary Specialty + Emergency (AVSE) is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team in Alpharetta, GA. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Technician with a background in surgery and anesthesia to work alongside specialty clinicians and provide advanced patient care.

Schedule

- Full-time
- Four 10-hour shifts per week
- 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Rotating weekends
- Participation in an on-call rotation

Responsibilities

As a Licensed Veterinary Technician on the Surgery team, you will provide advanced technical and nursing support throughout the surgical and perioperative process. Responsibilities may include:

- Provide hands-on patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Assist veterinarians with surgical and specialty procedures
- Develop, prepare, and support anesthesia protocols under veterinary direction
- Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Monitor patient vital signs and recognize changes requiring intervention
- Perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection
- Assist with diagnostic imaging and laboratory procedures
- Calculate and administer medications accurately
- Safely restrain and handle patients using appropriate techniques
- Prepare surgical patients and maintain appropriate aseptic technique
- Provide postoperative nursing care, monitoring, and pain management
- Maintain accurate medical records, treatment documentation, and patient charges
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding patient care, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, assistants, and other specialty team members
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient surgical and patient care environment

Qualifications

- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician
- LVT certification required, VTS credential prioritized
- Specialty veterinary experience preferred, particularly in Surgery and Anesthesia
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, including triage, restraint, diagnostic imaging, phlebotomy, venipuncture, anesthesia planning, induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Knowledge of drug calculations, medication administration, laboratory equipment, and laboratory procedures
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a specialty surgical environment
- Excellent communication skills with clients and veterinary team members
- Ability to work collaboratively while also managing responsibilities independently
- Commitment to continued learning and professional development
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
