Compensation:

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $116,534 - $154,413. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Safety and Environmental Services? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Production & Facilities function. As a Lead Environmental Auditor, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

The Lead Environmental Auditor is responsible for planning, leading and executing complex environmental compliance and ISO 14001 audits, with a strong focus on evaluating the effectiveness and maturity of Environmental Management Systems. This role identifies systemic risks and non-conformities, drives root cause analysis and develops strategic corrective and preventive actions to support continuous improvement.

The Lead Auditor also provides subject matter expertise for regulatory and internal audits, mentors auditors and site teams, collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders and supports enterprise-wide environmental compliance initiatives in alignment with the One Safe Team culture.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the planning and execution of ISO 14001 and regulatory environmental audits in alignment with ISO 19011 standards, ensuring consistent and defensible audit practices.
- Define audit scope, criteria and methodologies based on regulatory and organizational requirements; guide audit teams to deliver objective, high-quality results.
- Evaluate compliance, identify and prioritize nonconformities, and differentiate between systemic and isolated issues.
- Validate the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to ensure sustainable resolution and risk reduction.
- Serve as Lead Auditor during external certification audits and ensure readiness for regulatory and third-party reviews.
- Interpret and apply environmental laws, regulations and permits (federal, state and local) across air, water and waste programs.
- Act as the primary point of contact during regulatory inspection, audits and enforcement actions.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update compliance programs to maintain adherence and minimize risk.
- Support sites in achieving and sustaining environmental compliance through risk assessments and targeted mitigation strategies.
- Maintain and continuously improve the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS), including policies, procedures and documentation controls.
- Ensure all documentation is standardized, traceable and audit-ready across locations.
- Analyze audit results, compliance data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and drive improvements.
- Develop reporting tools and dashboards to track environmental performance enhance leadership visibility.
- Promote continuous improvement by reducing repeat findings and strengthening preventative controls.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align compliance priorities, strengthen team capability and drive effective environmental programs.
- Establish and maintain consistent environmental expectations for third-party partners to mitigate external risk.
- Improve audit efficiency and align compliance processes across functions to enhance consistency and effectiveness.

What you’ll Need To Succeed:

Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):

- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Project Management or related field.
- 7 years of experience in an environmental role leading ISO 14001.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental processes and best practices.
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Microsoft Office proficiency, specifically Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and effectively present ideas and concepts. Also able to deliver presentations and conduct workshops.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations.

Preferred

- Valid ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certificate from an accredited institution.
- Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA)
- Project Management Certificate, PMP Course, or equivalent on the job project management experience.
- Instruction design, adult learning theory, SAM, ADDIE or equivalent on the job training experience.
- Experience training in a manufacturing environment.

Major Physical Demands:

- This job may require periodic travel by car and/or airline to S&C locations and perform in-person inspections and investigations in a wide variety of factory and office environments or attend off site seminars and training activities for continued safety and/or environmental development. 5% or less.
- Activities such as standing, extensive walking, climbing stairs / ladders, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, handling and may be exposed to hot/cold temperatures will occasionally be required. Frequent use of computers and office equipment is required.
- Ability to travel occasionally to other facilities and flexibility to work non-traditional business hours as needed.
