Job Summary:
The Lead Stability Technician serves as the senior technical resource within the Stability team, performing advanced stability testing, verifying data accuracy, coordinating daily workflow, and supporting troubleshooting of instruments and stability chambers. This role provides technical guidance, assists with training, and helps maintain compliance with GMP, ICH, FDA, USP, and internal SOP requirements while ensuring timely and accurate execution of stability studies.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced stability testing of OTC, cosmetic, and dietary products, including evaluation of color, odor, appearance, pH, specific gravity, viscosity, and package compatibility per established methods.
- Review and verify out-of-trend (OOT) and out-of-specification (OOS) physical analysis data prior to release and escalate issues as needed.
- Coordinate daily workflow for assigned stability tasks to support on-time completion of testing schedules.
- Assist in training new and less-experienced stability staff on test methods, LIMS usage, and proper laboratory procedures.
- Calibrate and maintain pH meters, viscometers, balances, and specific gravity instruments in accordance with internal procedures.
- Troubleshoot routine instrument and equipment issues and collaborate with the Stability Lab Manager for more complex problems.
- Record results and maintain accurate documentation within the stability LIMS system.
- Provide routine updates to the Stability Lab Manager on testing progress, upcoming workload, and any operational concerns.
- Notify the Stability Lab Manager promptly regarding any stability chamber issues or deviations affecting sample storage or testing.
- Ensure adherence to GMP, ICH, FDA, USP, ISO 17025, and internal SOPs across daily testing activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the stability area and assist with enhancements to testing workflows or procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Key responsibilities may differ among employees with the same job title and may change over time.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field preferred; relevant experience considered.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Minimum 2+ years’ laboratory experience in cosmetic, nutritional, or pharmaceutical stability testing or related industries.
- Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot routine equipment issues.
- Ability to coordinate tasks, prioritize workload, and support team workflow in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability to changing procedures and continuous improvement efforts.
- Able to work overtime or occasional Saturdays as needed.
- No direct managerial responsibilities
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-5:30PM
Salary: $23-30/hr
