Avion Solutions Inc., a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for an Electrical Controls Engineer Intern to support the Propulsion Drives Branch of the Maneuver Air Directorate . This position is located in Huntsville, AL.
Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Provide entry-level analytical and technical support for engineering projects, systems, and sub-systems.
- Assist in reviewing test plans, test reports, and technical data for compliance with project and specification requirements.
- Participate in engineering test witnessing, data collection, post-test evaluations, and hardware inspections.
- Review design documentation, engineering change proposals, and technical drawings for accuracy and technical completeness.
- Assist with root cause analysis, failure investigations, and defect reporting for components and mechanical/electrical assemblies.
- Support technical document reviews, including technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in project reviews, technical syncs, and team engineering meetings.
- Assist in documenting engineering processes, methodologies, and technical analyses in standard electronic formats (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Perform information searches, technical data correlation, and preliminary trade studies to support ongoing engineering projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
- Must be a Junior or higher, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of fundamental engineering principles, system design concepts, and development methods.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Ability to gather data, perform routine technical calculations, and summarize findings in clear, concise reports.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with foundational technical writing capability.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain/maintain a DoW security clearance.
- Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with engineering modeling, analysis, or data visualization software (e.g., MATLAB, CAD, ANSYS, SolidWorks).
- Ability to perform detailed information search, correlation, interpretation of technical data, and the preparation of technical documentation.
- Strong interest in analytics.
