Make a Difference Through Lived Experience

Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in Charlotte, NC.

This is an opportunity to use your lived experience and recovery journey to help individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use challenges build stability, independence, and meaningful connections in the community.

As part of a multidisciplinary ACTT team, you’ll work alongside clinicians, nurses, case managers, and other behavioral health professionals to provide practical, recovery-focused support where clients live, work, and spend their time.

About ACTT

Assertive Community Treatment (ACTT) is a community-based, high-intensity behavioral health service for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. The team provides comprehensive support designed to promote recovery, reduce psychiatric hospitalization, and help clients achieve greater stability and independence.

Services may address mental health, substance use, housing, employment, transportation, social connections, and other daily living needs.

What You’ll Do

- Provide peer support, encouragement, mentorship, and advocacy based on your personal recovery experience

- Build trusting relationships with clients and support them in achieving individualized recovery goals

- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to coordinate services and support

- Participate in treatment planning and communicate client progress with the treatment team

- Connect clients with community resources, appointments, housing, employment, and other support services

- Provide or coordinate transportation when needed

- Facilitate social, educational, and recovery-focused groups and activities

- Participate in crisis response, after-hours assessments, and hospital diversion efforts as needed

- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including progress notes, medical records, releases, and discharge documentation

- Participate in daily team meetings and communicate important client updates

- Provide support in the community and meet clients in a variety of settings

- Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

- North Carolina Peer Support Specialist Certification – Required

- High School Diploma or GED

- Must be 21 years of age or older

- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License

- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team

- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

- Ability to maintain professional boundaries while using lived experience to support others
