### Position Summary

The CNC Machinist II (Mill) independently sets up, operates, inspects, and troubleshoots CNC milling machines for standard production jobs. This role requires performing full mill setups, reading complex prints with GD&T, making basic G-code edits, selecting appropriate tooling, and completing in-process inspection.

Key Responsibilities

Mill Setup & Operation: Set up and operate CNC mills independently using setup sheets, fixtures, tooling, and approved programs. Perform fixture changeovers, tool loading, touch-offs, and work offsets.

Inspection & Quality: Read complex prints and apply GD&T requirements. Perform full in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to contain nonconforming parts.

Troubleshooting & G-Code: Perform basic G-code edits at the machine. Resolve common milling issues involving feeds/speeds, offsets, chatter, surface finish, and tooling.

Team Mentorship: Guide and assist CNC Operators and Machinist I personnel with setups, inspection questions, and troubleshooting. Maintain a safe, clean work area.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical school or vocational machining training preferred.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of CNC milling setup and machining experience.

Skills: Proficient in CNC mill setups, reading complex prints, GD&T, basic G-code editing, and in-process precision measurement.

Physical Requirements & Environment

Environment: Machine shop environment with noise, coolant, oils, metal chips, and moving mechanical parts. Required PPE includes safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, and hearing protection.

Physical Demands: Standing/walking for long shifts; reaching, bending, stooping, and squatting. Frequently lifting up to 30 lbs.
