## Project Overview:

Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. ## Job Summary:

Assigned to lead field engineering activities supporting structural construction scope. Responsible for supervising and coordinating Structural Field Engineers and providing technical leadership for planning, work packaging, material management, quantity verification, quality control, subcontractor coordination, field issue resolution, and turnover within assigned areas. Works with construction leadership, Craft Professionals, subcontractors, Engineering, Survey, Quality, Project Controls, Procurement, and other disciplines to ensure structural installations are performed safely, in accordance with design requirements, and aligned with project schedule and quality expectations. Provides direction, coaching, workload coordination, and technical review to support consistent field engineering execution and development of assigned personnel.  #LI-ME1

## Major Responsibilities:

- Lead and coordinate the work of Structural Field Engineers; establish priorities, distribute assignments, review deliverables, provide technical direction, and support employee development, training, and performance feedback.
- Lead development and readiness review of Installation Work Packages, short-interval plans, construction work plans, field sketches, field instructions, and structural execution documentation using current approved design information.
- Coordinate with structural superintendents, Craft Professionals, subcontractors, Engineering, Survey, Quality, Procurement, Project Controls, and other disciplines to resolve technical, constructability, interface, access, and workface-readiness issues.
- Review structural drawings, specifications, fabrication drawings, connection details, vendor data, codes, standards, RFIs, field changes, and as-built requirements; ensure changes are communicated and incorporated before installation.
- Lead material coordination for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, connection materials, bolting systems, and related items, including quantity takeoffs, requisitions, receipt inspection, storage, preservation, and release to ensure field availability.
- Coordinate structural layout and installation verification, including survey control, elevations, alignment, plumbness, member orientation, connection completion, bolt installation and testing, and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Manage installed-quantity verification, progress measurement, forecasting, and field records used to support schedule, cost, and project-controls requirements.
- Lead quality verification, nonconformance identification and resolution, corrective-action follow-up, punch-list completion, turnover documentation, and closeout of structural field engineering records.
- Monitor field execution to ensure current drawings, specifications, procedures, permits, quality documents, and approved work packages are used; identify risks early and implement or escalate corrective actions to prevent rework and schedule impact.
- Promote and support the Zero Accident Philosophy and ensure structural field engineering activities are planned and performed safely, collaboratively, and in accordance with project requirements.

## Education and Experience Requirements:

- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience​.

## Required Knowledge and Skills:

- Thorough knowledge of structural steel and miscellaneous-metal construction, including fabrication, receipt, storage, erection sequencing, connections, bolting, inspection, testing, and acceptance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, mentor, and coordinate Structural Field Engineers while prioritizing work, reviewing technical deliverables, and supporting safe, quality, and schedule-driven field execution.
- Ability to develop and manage installation work packages, construction plans, material and quantity controls, progress reporting, workface readiness, Advanced Work Packaging activities, and turnover documentation.
- Ability to read and apply structural drawings, fabrication drawings, specifications, connection details, vendor data, applicable codes and standards, inspection requirements, RFIs, field changes, and nonconformance dispositions.
- Working knowledge of survey and layout requirements, structural tolerances, anchor bolts, embeds, structural components, receipt inspection, material traceability, bolt and tool testing processes, and field quality verification.
- Strong leadership, communication, technical judgment, organization, and coordination skills to work effectively with Construction, Engineering, Survey, Quality, Project Controls, Procurement, subcontractors, Craft Professionals, and client representatives.
