Overview Team Description: The Purview Infrastructure Engineering (PINE) team enables secure, scalable, and predictable delivery of Microsoft Purview across multiple cloud environments. We build the engineering systems, automation, deployment practices, and validation frameworks that help services onboard faster, operate more reliably, and achieve parity across cloud regions. As a Software Engineer on the PINE team, you will own engineering solutions that improve the scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency of Purview services across multiple cloud environments. You will develop automation, enhance deployment and validation capabilities, investigate complex technical issues, and collaborate across engineering teams to drive successful delivery outcomes. Responsibilities <ul><li>Design, build, and maintain automation for deployment, validation, and operational workflows across commercial, sovereign, and specialized cloud environments.</li><li>Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and service onboarding experiences to increase deployment consistency, reliability, and engineering productivity. </li><li>Build telemetry, monitoring, and operational tooling that improve system health, troubleshooting, and engineering insights.</li><li>Partner with service teams, platform teams, and feature owners to deliver cloud-ready solutions and support feature rollout across multiple environments.</li><li>Investigate and resolve reliability, deployment, and operational issues while identifying opportunities for automation and continuous improvement.</li></ul> Qualifications Required Qualifications:<ul type="disc"><li>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python</li><ul type="disc"><li>OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></ul>Other Requirements:<ul type="disc"><li>Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.</li></ul> Preferred Qualifications: <ul type="disc"><li>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or Python.<ul type="disc"><li>OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or Python.<ul type="disc"><li>OR equivalent experience. </li></ul></li></ul></li></ul><ul type="disc"><li>Experience with CI/CD systems and Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Azure DevOps, Bicep, Terraform, or ARM.</li><li>Experience building or operating cloud-based services on Azure.</li><li>Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals including design, testing, debugging, code reviews, and secure development practices.</li><li>Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.</li><li>Experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or large-scale service operations.</li><li>Experience with observability platforms, telemetry, monitoring, and operational excellence practices. </li><li>Experience supporting regulated, sovereign, government, or compliance-sensitive environments.</li><li>Familiarity with deployment automation, release management, and service reliability engineering practices.</li></ul>#SECURITY #MSFTSecurity Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,400 - $168,100 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $111,100 - $183,700 per year.
