POSITION SUMMARY:
Are you a strategic finance leader who thrives on driving organizational performance, financial stewardship, and operational excellence? We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Executive Director of Finance to lead all aspects of our financial operations and serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization's accounting, budgeting, payroll, room tax auditing and collection, financial reporting, debt management, and long-range financial planning. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with strategic vision, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to transparency, accountability, and public trust.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
What You'll Do
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Provide executive leadership and oversight for all finance functions, including accounting, payroll, accounts payable, revenue processing, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Serve as a key advisor to executive management and the Board of Directors on financial strategy, risk management, and organizational performance.
- Develop financial forecasts, projections, and analyses to support long-term planning and informed decision-making.
- Evaluate and provide recommendations regarding capital investments, debt financing, refinancing opportunities, and other major financial initiatives.
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare and oversee accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for executive leadership and the Board.
- Lead the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) in accordance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements and Nevada Revised Statutes.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, accounting standards, and reporting requirements.
- Manage the annual external audit process and maintain strong relationships with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
Budget & Fiscal Management:
- Direct the development and administration of the organization's annual budget.
- Monitor budget performance and provide ongoing analysis and reporting to leadership, the Board, and state agencies.
- Oversee debt service management and ensure compliance with all debt covenants.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and resource allocation.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and customer service excellence.
- Establish and implement best practices, policies, procedures, and internal controls that support organizational goals.
- Evaluate team performance and provide coaching, training, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management experience in finance, accounting, or governmental financial administration.
- Demonstrated success leading complex financial operations and managing high-performing teams.
- Extensive knowledge of governmental accounting principles, GASB standards, financial reporting requirements, and Nevada Revised Statutes.
- Experience with budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, debt management, and financial forecasting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with financial management systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Experience working within a public agency, governmental entity, convention and visitors authority, or other public-sector organization.
- Experience preparing Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFRs) and managing external audits.
WORKING CONDITIONS / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- May work near moving mechanical parts.
- May be exposed to various temperatures inside the building and outside the building, airborne particles, and fumes.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet while in the office, or moderately noisy when in the field.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sit, Stand, walk, squat, bend (at neck and waist), twist, reach above & below shoulder level as needed during the shift.
- Simple grasping as well as repetitive use of hands and fine hand manipulation are needed to accomplish essential functions.
- Frequently required to talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Lift up to 15 lbs. on an occasional basis.
