Pay Range : $23.08 - $28.85 /hr ($48,000 - $60,000 annualized) plus full benefit package

Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with scheduled responsiveness rotation for emergency rental and warranty calls

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Home Repair Specialist performs the hands-on repair work behind three Pensacola Habitat obligations: warranty on completed Habitat homes, maintenance and turns across the rental portfolio, and critical home repair and accessibility projects for the Community Development program. The role works to scopes set by the Home Repair Manager, completes what can be self-performed, and flags what needs a subcontractor. This position is the labor capacity behind the home repair function.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

PROGRAM DELIVERY

· Commit to Pensacola Habitat for Humanity's mission of building homes, community, and hope.

· Complete assigned warranty, rental, and Community Development repair work to the scope, schedule, and standard set by the Home Repair Manager.

· Respond promptly and professionally to homeowners and tenants on site, and escalate anything outside the assigned scope rather than expanding it.

· Drive a company vehicle to and from job sites, share the emergency on-call rotation with the Home Repair Manager, and keep tools, materials, and the vehicle in working order.

HANDS-ON REPAIR WORK

· Complete minor to moderate residential repairs, including drywall, interior and exterior painting, flooring, trim and carpentry, doors and frames, siding, fence, and minor plumbing.

· Build and repair decks, ramps, and handrails, and install grab bars, smoke detectors, fans, and other accessibility modifications.

· Complete rental unit turns between tenants to the written standard, and minor demolition where the scope requires it.

QUALITY AND DOCUMENTATION

· Document work performed, materials used, and time on each property, and return that record to the Home Repair Manager the same week.

· Identify conditions that require a licensed or permitted trade, and report them before starting rather than after.

· Photograph conditions before and after on warranty and Community Development work, so that closeout can be evidenced.

SAFETY, VOLUNTEERS, AND COLLABORATION

· Complete all work safely and in occupied homes, following safety protocols and leaving each property clean and secure at the end of the day.

· Work alongside and direct volunteers on repair projects, keeping the site safe and the work within their skill level.

· Coordinate with the Construction Department where repair work touches an active build or a recently completed home.

· Complete other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department and the organization.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

· Broad residential repair knowledge across carpentry, drywall, paint, flooring, and minor plumbing.

· Skilled use of hand and power tools, and the judgement to know when a condition is beyond self-performed scope.

· Able to work respectfully and courteously in occupied homes with homeowners, tenants, and volunteers.

· Well organized and reliable in documenting work performed.

· Able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis, work on ladders, and work in all elements of Florida weather.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Three or more years of residential repair, remodeling, or maintenance experience required.

· Valid Florida driver's license, safe driving record, reliable transportation, and insurability through our vehicle insurance carrier.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is performed daily in occupied Habitat homes, rental properties, and Community Development project homes. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, reach, and grasp for prolonged periods, to work on ladders, and to safely lift 50 lbs on a regular and frequent basis. Work is frequently performed in non-temperature-controlled conditions and in all elements of Florida weather. This position requires a valid state driver's license, safe driving record, reliable transportation, and insurability through our vehicle insurance carrier.
