About this role

Role purpose

Deliver accurate and timely rates analysis and administration across the client rates lifecycle. The role reviews and interprets client pricing arrangements, implements and maintains rates in Firm systems, and supports accurate and compliant billing outcomes through consistent process execution, appropriate escalation and stakeholder collaboration.

Main responsibilities

- Review and interpret client agreements, engagement terms, rate schedules and fee arrangements to identify applicable pricing requirements.
- Calculate, validate and perform data-quality checks on timekeeper, client and matter rates for eBilling and non-eBilling arrangements, identifying discrepancies and taking corrective action or escalating where appropriate.
- Set up, maintain and update client, matter and timekeeper rates in SAP and other Firm systems accurately and within agreed service levels.
- Support client and matter onboarding through pricing analysis, system configuration, validation and approval tracking.
- Apply agreed rate cards, discounts, volume-based arrangements and client-specific exceptions accurately within Firm systems.
- Maintain accurate and current pricing profiles, client documentation and tracking records to support billing and eBilling requirements.
- Investigate rate-related queries, eBilling rejections and pricing discrepancies, documenting findings and supporting timely resolution.
- Support annual and ad hoc rate review activities, including rate calculations, validation, system implementation and approval tracking.
- Follow standard operating procedures, controls and governance requirements to support contractual compliance and minimise errors, rework and revenue leakage.
- Manage assigned work effectively, meet deadlines and service levels, and provide clear status updates where delivery is at risk.
- Team and functional contribution Collaborate with Rates colleagues, Revenue Managers, Revenue Specialists, Billing, eBilling, Pricing Strategy, Finance and Client Service teams to support end-to-end delivery.
- Identify process, documentation or system issues and provide practical feedback to support continuous improvement and greater consistency.
- Participate in training, cross-training and knowledge-sharing activities to build individual and team capability across rates processes and systems.
- Support the consistent application of standard processes and effective ways of working across teams and locations.
- Handle confidential client and pricing information with sound judgment, professionalism and discretion.

Technical skills, qualifications and experience

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, finance or a related discipline is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Previous experience in rates, pricing, billing, finance operations, data administration or a professional services environment is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret detailed agreements, pricing information and data.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, consistent and timely delivery.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience using financial or enterprise systems is advantageous; SAP experience is preferred but not required.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to organise and prioritise multiple tasks, meet deadlines and provide timely updates when delivery may be at risk.
- Ability to follow defined procedures and controls while applying sound judgment to identify exceptions, discrepancies and potential risks.
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across different locations and time zones.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes, systems and skills as the Rates function continues to evolve.
- Flexibility to work an agreed shift pattern where required to support business and regional coverage.
