Job Title: Software Project Manager Job Description
This role leads the end-to-end management of software development projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard of quality. The Software Project Manager coordinates Agile and Scrum activities, oversees project tracking and documentation, and works closely with stakeholders and suppliers to ensure that all project milestones, testing activities, and validation workflows meet agreed requirements and quality targets.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage software development projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with project goals, scope, and timelines.
- Plan, organize, and oversee Agile and Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide project updates, gather requirements, manage expectations, and address risks or issues.
- Create, maintain, and update project tracking artifacts such as Gantt charts, timelines, milestones, and bug burndown charts.
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including requirements, status reports, risks, issues, and change logs.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to monitor progress, resolve blockers, and ensure timely delivery of project deliverables.
- Execute high-level user acceptance tests to validate that software meets business requirements and quality standards.
- Apply high-level testing knowledge to review and support testing strategies, test plans, and defect resolution processes.
- Ensure suppliers and external partners follow industry-standard validation workflows and processes to meet defined quality targets.
- Monitor and verify that all validation activities and quality checks are completed and properly documented throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify process improvement opportunities within project management and validation workflows to enhance efficiency and quality.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience managing software development projects from start to finish.
- Strong knowledge of Agile software development practices and Scrum methodology.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder communication and stakeholder management.
- Proven experience in project tracking and documentation for software projects.
- Ability to create and maintain Gantt charts, project timelines, milestones, and bug burndown charts.
- High-level familiarity with software testing concepts, practices, and workflows.
- Ability to execute high-level user acceptance tests to validate software functionality and quality.
- Understanding of industry-standard validation workflows used to ensure suppliers follow sufficient processes to achieve quality targets.
- Proficiency in software project management tools and methodologies related to Agile and Scrum.

- Experience working specifically as a Software Project Manager.
- Hands-on experience with Agile frameworks and Scrum practices in a software development environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and external partners to ensure compliance with validation and quality processes.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear stakeholder and team communication.
Work Environment
The Software Project Manager works in a collaborative environment focused on Agile and Scrum-based software development. The role involves regular interaction with development teams, stakeholders, and suppliers, as well as frequent use of project management tools to maintain Gantt charts, timelines, milestones, and bug burndown charts. The position requires consistent documentation, coordination of Agile ceremonies, and participation in testing and validation activities to support high-quality software delivery.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ypsilanti, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
