Manufacturing Engineer

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Job Description The Manufacturing Engineer provides hands-on engineering support on the production floor, driving continuous improvement across safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput. This role oversees manufacturing processes from concept through completion, partners closely with production teams and customers, and leads Lean and 5S initiatives to optimize equipment, tooling, and workflows. The position offers high visibility within a global organization, significant autonomy, and the opportunity to influence processes across multiple sites. Responsibilities

- Provide hands-on engineering support for production by troubleshooting equipment, tooling, process, quality, and downtime issues on the manufacturing floor.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, throughput, setup reduction, and waste elimination.
- Work directly with customers to manage projects from cradle to grave, including gathering quotes, developing tooling drawings, defining and developing processes, and meeting project deadlines.
- Partner with team members on the production floor to troubleshoot, investigate, and improve overall manufacturing processes.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, setup sheets, and other process-related documents.
- Support and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions to address process, quality, and equipment issues.
- Implement Lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives and drive data-driven process improvements throughout the plant.
- Collaborate with operators, supervisors, maintenance, quality, and toolroom employees to ensure robust, reliable, and efficient production processes.
- Apply strong mechanical aptitude to evaluate equipment and processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement practical solutions.
- Support tooling, fixtures, and equipment-related projects, including troubleshooting and optimization where needed.

Essential Skills

- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience in manufacturing engineering or process engineering with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience overseeing a process from beginning to end, including planning, execution, and follow-up.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proven problem-solving ability.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, part prints, and specifications.
- Experience working directly with operators, supervisors, maintenance, quality, and toolroom employees.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and 5S implementation.
- Familiarity with tooling and 3D design concepts.
- Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- CAD experience is preferred.
- Experience with tooling and fixtures is preferred.
- Experience with CNC or manual machining is preferred.
- Experience with equipment troubleshooting beyond basic operation is preferred.
- Comfort working in a highly visible role within a flat organizational structure.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

Work Environment This role is approximately 65% on the production floor and 35% in the office, offering a floor-focused, hands-on environment. The position sits within a global organization with headquarters in Europe and a North American headquarters in Cleveland, providing exposure to other sites and collaboration opportunities across locations. The team operates in a relatively flat structure, placing this role only a few levels from senior leadership and offering high visibility, autonomy, and significant decision-making responsibility. The plant environment emphasizes 5S and Lean initiatives, with a strong focus on safety, organization, and continuous improvement across all areas of the facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.46/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
