Job Title: Electrical Construction Project Engineer Job Description
This role supports a large-scale wastewater treatment facility renovation and other industrial and power-related projects by leading document control and project coordination activities. You will manage technical documentation, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and as-built records for a multi-year infrastructure project, ensuring accurate, timely, and organized information flow between the field, vendors, and project leadership. You will work closely with construction teams to maintain project documentation integrity, support progress billing, and help keep the project on schedule and within scope.
Responsibilities
- Oversee core document control activities for a major wastewater treatment facility renovation and related projects.
- Manage document management systems, including daily downloading, logging, and filing documents from Bluebeam Studio.
- Enable and manage change notifications in Bluebeam, maintaining up-to-date document logs and weekly summaries.
- Coordinate and support weekly Monday document review meetings, including preparing document lists, tracking impacts, and recording decisions.
- Organize and maintain RFI folders, including tracking RFIs, assigning numbers, and managing all supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with field teams and leadership to draft, submit, and log RFIs in a timely and accurate manner.
- Convert subcontractor RFIs into internal RFIs with complete and clear documentation.
- Manage submittal processes by updating logs, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Communicate and coordinate with vendors and general contractors to manage technical and logistical document flow.
- Maintain as-built and record drawings using Bluebeam and field inputs, ensuring accurate project documentation.
- Receive, file, and upload test and commissioning reports into designated portals and document management systems.
- Track and clarify outage requests and work plan routing, ensuring proper logging, distribution, and follow-up.
- Assist in pricing, budgeting, and submitting change orders, including gathering and organizing supporting documentation.
- Work with vendors and subcontractors to align on revised scope details and reflect changes accurately in project records.
- Help prepare and submit monthly progress billings for the project, supporting accurate and timely invoicing.
- Collect and forward timesheets from field staff and assist project leadership with review and approvals.
- Support apprenticeship and workforce reporting in collaboration with internal teams.
- Review construction drawings and specifications to support document control, RFIs, submittals, and change order processes.
- Support project engineering tasks related to construction documentation, coordination, and communication.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience working for an electrical contractor on commercial or industrial construction projects.
- 1+ years of proven experience in document control for construction or electrical contracting projects.
- Experience with document control processes, including RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Studio and experience working within Bluebeam for document management.
- Familiarity with construction workflows and document management systems.
- Understanding of RFIs, change orders, submittals, and related construction documentation workflows.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tight documentation timelines and multiple concurrent tasks.
- Strong follow-through and attention to detail in logging, tracking, and updating project documents.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, vendors, subcontractors, and general contractors.
- Technical knowledge of electrical construction and construction management concepts.
- Experience supporting industrial, energy, data center, or water/wastewater projects (highly preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Experience with project engineering in construction environments.
- Experience with industrial construction and water/wastewater construction projects.
- Experience with project management tools and workflows in construction environments.
- Experience with Procore or similar construction management platforms.
- Experience with estimating in an industrial or electrical construction context.
- Familiarity with commissioning processes, test reports, and as-built documentation.
- Experience with online commissioning platforms such as Facility Grid is desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for coordinating with field staff, vendors, and general contractors.
- Ability to support apprenticeship and workforce reporting requirements.
- Degree not required if candidate demonstrates strong technical knowledge and project familiarity.
Work Environment
This role is based on site in Tukwila, Washington, supporting a $175 million wastewater treatment facility renovation and various industrial and power-related projects around the greater Seattle area. You will work closely with field teams, project leadership, vendors, and general contractors in a dynamic construction environment that relies heavily on digital tools such as Bluebeam Studio, document management systems, Microsoft Office, and online commissioning platforms. The work involves regular coordination meetings, including weekly document review sessions, and requires consistent presence on site to support real-time document control and project coordination. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tukwila, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.50 - $50.41/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
