Quality Control Lead

Job Title: Quality Control Lead Job Description The Quality Control Lead oversees all quality control staff, processes, and activities for large, complex construction projects, with a primary focus on heavy civil, structural, utility, and MEP work. This role administers the quality program project-wide, ensuring that construction activities comply with design documents, regulatory requirements, and company standards while providing strong leadership and management to the QC team. Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the quality control program across the entire project, ensuring consistent application of QC standards and procedures.
- Manage and mentor all QC staff, including training direct reports on processes, procedures, and completion of daily tasks.
- Oversee the workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standards and project objectives.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that motivates, engages, and supports team members.
- Interface in a professional manner with client representatives, designers, and subcontractors to address quality-related issues and expectations.
- Review design documents and provide clear, constructive feedback to designers to improve constructability and quality outcomes.
- Manage in-depth technical reviews of submittals against design documents and oversee submittal review and approval status using a submittal register.
- Implement the requirements of the approved Quality Control Plan, ensuring all required records are generated, maintained, and properly managed.
- Identify deficiencies and non-conformances, prepare thorough documentation, and monitor and verify corrective actions to closure.
- Exercise authority to stop work when necessary to resolve non-compliant work or matters that negatively affect safety or quality.
- Coordinate and document commissioning activities and formal completion inspections, ensuring all systems and components meet project requirements.
- Manage timely project closeout, including compilation, organization, and turnover of all required QC documents and records.
- Support and guide QC technicians in field inspections related to excavation, civil, concrete, underground utilities, electrical, structural, and MEP work.
- Collaborate with project leadership to continuously improve QC processes and support successful delivery of advanced technology and life science-type projects.

Essential Skills

- Approximately 15+ years of experience in construction quality control, with a strong experience in QC for large construction projects.
- Proven management experience leading and administering a project-wide quality control program.
- Extensive experience in heavy civil, structural, and utility construction quality management.
- in MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) quality control on complex projects.
- Experience managing and developing a QC team, including training, performance management, and workload oversight.
- Demonstrated ability to review design documents and provide technical feedback to designers.
- Experience managing submittal reviews, approvals, and tracking via a submittal register.
- Ability to identify, document, and resolve deficiencies and non-conformances, including monitoring corrective actions.
- Confidence and judgment to stop work when necessary to address non-compliant or unsafe conditions.
- Strong communication skills for professional interaction with clients, designers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Ability to coordinate commissioning activities and completion inspections and manage documentation for project closeout.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- OSHA 30 certification in construction safety.
- Experience with advanced technologies and life science-type projects is strongly preferred.
- Experience in civil, structural, utility, and MEP disciplines within the construction industry.
- Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance team culture.
- Strong organizational skills for managing records, documentation, and closeout packages.
- Understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement principles.
- Comfort working on large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders and subcontractors.

Work Environment This role is based onsite at an active construction jobsite in New York. The Quality Control Lead works closely with field teams, designers, and client representatives in a dynamic environment that includes heavy excavation, civil work, concrete operations, underground utilities, and electrical installations. The position involves regular presence in the field, coordination in site offices, and interaction with multiple trades and subcontractors. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $72.00 - $80.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
