Job Description This Lab Technician role focuses on operating advanced analytical instruments, including Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) and LC-MS/MS systems, to perform confirmatory testing in alignment with SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and other relevant regulatory standards for all non-negative test results. The position also includes performing quality control (QC) duties to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of laboratory results. The role requires a Bachelors degree in biology, chemistry, or an equivalent related field. Responsibilities

- Operate Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) instruments to perform confirmatory testing for non-negative test results.
- Operate LC-MS/MS systems to conduct confirmatory testing in accordance with established protocols.
- Perform confirmatory testing strictly in alignment with SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, accurate, and compliant test execution.
- Perform quality control (QC) duties, including running controls, monitoring instrument performance, and documenting QC results.
- Verify the accuracy and reliability of test results by reviewing QC data and instrument outputs.
- Document all testing activities, results, and QC checks clearly and accurately in laboratory records and systems.
- Maintain laboratory instruments by performing routine checks, basic troubleshooting, and coordinating maintenance as needed.
- Handle and process samples carefully to prevent contamination and ensure the integrity of test results.
- Adhere to all laboratory safety procedures and regulatory requirements while working with chemicals, reagents, and instrumentation.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of confirmatory testing.
- Participate in ongoing training and follow updates to guidelines and procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

Essential Skills

- Proficiency in operating Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) instruments for confirmatory testing.
- Proficiency in operating LC-MS/MS systems for confirmatory testing applications.
- Ability to perform quality control (QC) duties, including running controls and monitoring instrument performance.
- Strong understanding of laboratory procedures related to confirmatory testing of non-negative samples.
- Ability to follow SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and other regulatory requirements for confirmatory testing.
- Bachelors degree in biology, chemistry, or an equivalent related field.
- Attention to detail and accuracy when handling samples, operating instruments, and documenting results.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tests and QC activities during a shift.
- Ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment during overnight shifts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Previous experience working with GC/MS or LC-MS/MS instruments in a laboratory setting is beneficial.
- Experience performing laboratory quality control (QC) procedures is an advantage.
- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines related to confirmatory testing and laboratory compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret results and address basic instrument issues.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with laboratory colleagues and document findings clearly.

Work Environment This position is fully on site in a laboratory environment located in Gretna, LA. The work schedule follows an overnight shift on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 10:00 PM to 8:30 AM. The role involves working with advanced analytical instruments such as Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) and LC-MS/MS systems, as well as handling biological samples and chemical reagents in a controlled laboratory setting. The environment requires adherence to laboratory safety protocols, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and consistent compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
