Job Title: Electrical Project Engineer Job Description This role supports electrical construction projects across water/wastewater, energy, industrial, and data center facilities in the greater Seattle area. You will focus on document control, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation to ensure accurate, timely, and well-organized information flow between the field, vendors, and project stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Oversee core document control activities for electrical construction projects, ensuring all project documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Manage document management systems, including daily download, logging, and filing of project documents from Bluebeam Studio.
- Enable and manage change notifications in Bluebeam, maintaining updated document logs and preparing weekly summaries for review meetings.
- Coordinate and support weekly Monday document review meetings by preparing document lists, tracking impacts, and recording decisions for project stakeholders.
- Organize and maintain RFI folders, including tracking RFIs, assigning numbers, and managing all supporting documentation.
- Manage submittal processes by updating logs, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring timely submission and distribution of submittals.
- Maintain as-built and record drawings using Bluebeam and field inputs, ensuring drawings reflect current field conditions and changes.
- Receive, file, and upload test and commissioning reports into designated portals, ensuring proper documentation and accessibility.
- Track and clarify outage requests and work plan routing, ensuring proper logging, distribution, and communication to relevant parties.
- Collaborate with field teams and leadership to draft, submit, and log RFIs, ensuring clarity and completeness of technical questions.
- Convert subcontractor RFIs into internal RFIs with complete documentation and appropriate routing for review and response.
- Communicate and coordinate with vendors and general contractors to manage technical and logistical document flow, including RFIs, submittals, and change-related documentation.
- Assist in pricing, budgeting, and submitting change orders, helping to document scope changes and cost impacts.
- Work with vendors and subcontractors to align on revised scope details associated with change orders and project adjustments.
- Help prepare and submit monthly progress billings for the project, supporting accurate and timely invoicing.
- Collect and forward timesheets from field staff and assist leadership with review and approvals for accuracy and completeness.
- Support apprenticeship and workforce reporting in collaboration with internal teams, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
- Apply technical knowledge of electrical construction and project workflows to support project engineers, project managers, and field teams.
- Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment by communicating clearly, following through on commitments, and supporting project goals.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience working for an electrical contractor on commercial or industrial construction projects.
- 1+ years of proven experience in document control for construction or electrical contracting projects.
- Hands-on experience with document control processes, including RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Studio and experience working within Bluebeam for document review, markups, and collaboration.
- Familiarity with construction workflows and project documentation processes in an electrical construction environment.
- Strong organization and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage tight documentation timelines and multiple priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, vendors, subcontractors, and general contractors.
- Technical knowledge and familiarity with electrical construction, project engineering, and construction management concepts.
- Understanding of RFIs, change orders, submittals, and their role in project execution and documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation workflows.
- Degree not required; however, relevant technical knowledge and project experience are essential.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Experience supporting industrial, energy, data center, or water/wastewater construction projects is highly preferred.
- Experience with project engineering activities such as estimating support, document review, and coordination.
- Experience with industrial construction and water/wastewater construction environments.
- Familiarity with commissioning, test reports, and as-built documentation processes is a plus.
- Experience with online commissioning platforms such as Facility Grid is desirable.
- Experience with Procore or other construction project management and document control platforms is beneficial.
- Knowledge of specification review and construction spec interpretation.
- Exposure to project management practices, including scheduling, billing support, and scope tracking.
- Interest in professional development and building a long-term career in electrical construction and infrastructure projects.
Work Environment This position is based on site in Tukwila, Washington, supporting various industrial and power-related projects throughout the greater Seattle area. You will work closely with field teams, project engineers, and project managers in an active construction environment focused on essential infrastructure such as water/wastewater facilities, energy projects, industrial plants, and data centers. The role involves daily use of Bluebeam Studio, Microsoft Office Suite, and document management systems, with potential exposure to tools such as Procore and online commissioning platforms like Facility Grid. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tukwila, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.50 - $50.41/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
