Program Overview

This internship offers undergraduate students a comprehensive introduction to banking operations, risk management, and career opportunities spanning Card, and Cash Services, and Deposit Operations. Interns will work with experienced banking professionals and gain hands-on exposure to operational processes, client engagement, and business initiatives that contribute to customer and community success.

What the Program Includes

• Onboarding Week: Orientation, training sessions, networking with peers and SouthState leaders, and an introduction to our banking business.

• Hands-On Experience: Daily work with high-performing teams to build analytical and creative skills and understand critical Card & Cash Services and Deposit Operations processes.

• Mentorship & Support: Guidance, feedback, and support from experienced team members throughout the internship.

• Speaker Series: Insights from senior leaders on banking and operations trends and how to maximize the internship experience.

• Networking Opportunities: Organized events to connect with peers, employees, and leaders while contributing to community initiatives.

In This Role, You Will

• Participate in internship activities, including workshops, training sessions, networking opportunities, and special projects.

• Gain exposure to Card Services, cash services, Regulation E dispute processing, ATM operations, and Deposit Operations including ACH, check, and wire processing, overdraft program management and deposit account maintenance and support.

• Conduct market research and analysis to identify client needs and support recommendations ford services solutions.

• Assist with data analytics, due diligence on operational platforms, and document reviews that support client engagement and outreach.

• Collaborate with operations managers, analysts, specialists, and team leaders on active consumer and business initiatives.

• Support efforts to enhance user engagement and promote banking services through appropriate channels.

• Organize competing priorities, maintain attention to detail, meet deadlines, and contribute effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications & Education

Education: 3.4 GPA preferred. Current undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Project Management, Information Systems, or a related field. Rising senior graduating in 2028.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Professional Skills: Strong analytical and creative mindset, eagerness to learn, and effective collaboration skills.

Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, dependable under pressure, and able to meet deadlines.

Training Requirements

• Complete mandatory new hire compliance training and New Employee Orientation.

Physical Demands

Ability to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports. The role requires extended computer use, which can be accommodated by sitting or standing at an appropriate desk.
