Embedded Firmware Engineer

Location: Goleta, CA (On-Site) Schedule: 9/80 Work Schedule Benefits: Equity Participation + Relocation Assistance We're seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to help develop a next-generation software platform for motor controllers and generator control systems. This is a hands-on role where you'll own firmware modules from design through hardware bring-up and verification while working closely with electrical and systems engineers.

What You'll Do

- Develop embedded firmware for motor controllers and generator control electronics.
- Design and implement bare-metal C software on 32-bit microcontrollers.
- Create low-level drivers, hardware interfaces, and platform services.
- Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and system verification.
- Contribute to software architecture, interfaces, and coding standards.
- Write requirements, specifications, and test procedures.
- Support lab, environmental, EMI/EMC, and field testing.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 4+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
- Strong C programming skills.
- Experience developing bare-metal firmware on microcontrollers.
- Experience with interrupt-driven systems and low-level hardware interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, JTAG debuggers, and embedded troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently own features from design through testing.

Preferred Qualifications

- TI C2000 (C28x) experience.
- Motor control or power electronics experience.
- CAN, UART, SPI, or I2C communications.
- Field-oriented control (FOC) and control-loop tuning.
- DO-178C, MISRA C, or safety-critical software experience.
- MATLAB/Simulink, FPGA, or VHDL/Verilog experience.

Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Goleta, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $180000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. 401k
