Mechanical Design Manufacturing Engineer, Energy Products, Megapack

Tesla is hiring a highly motivated, hands-on Mechanical Engineer for the Energy Manufacturing Engineering team – helping build a world of amazing abundance through scalable, sustainable energy solutions. - Develop manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and workstations to support prototype builds, early production, and medium-to-high-volume ramp (including conceptual design, layout optimization for product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency)
- Identify, specify, and procure necessary equipment and tooling for all manufacturing processes
- Balance product specs, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time when conceptualizing and developing equipment
- Collaborate with equipment integrators and vendors to design, build, and deliver custom equipment and fixtures for scaled production
- Provide DFM (design for manufacturability) feedback to the design team to improve process capability, yield, and quality
- Support equipment builds, installation, debugging, validation, duplication, and fine-tuning to achieve production readiness
- Conduct thorough testing, validation, and acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) of installed machinery, both on-site and off-site to ensure robustness, reliability, and quality standards

- 2+ years of experience as Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automation Engineer with focus in automation, machine design, robotics, and product development
- Experience using 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA)
- Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production
- Experience with conveyance, transducer-based fastening systems, robotic systems (Fanuc preferred)
- Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment
- Experience providing Design for Manufacturability and Automation
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field, or equivalent experience
