About this role

Make Your Mark:
BlackLine is looking for an experienced Technical Financial Systems Lead to join our Financial Systems team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, enhancement, and support of the SAP Commissions platform, working closely with our Sales Compensation team to bring their plans, quotas, and crediting rules to life in the system. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in SAP Commissions, an understanding of incentive compensation frameworks, and the database and SQL skills this platform requires behind the scenes. Because commissions inputs originate in our sales tools and flow through the Quote-to-Revenue (Q2R) stack, this is a highly cross-functional role that partners with Sales Operations, Finance, Accounting, and the Q2R team to deliver solutions that meet business needs while driving operational efficiency.

The Financial Systems team is AI forward, and AI development tooling is part of how we build, test, and document. We are also extending commissions into more advanced analytics through our financial systems toolkit, Snowflake and Sigma, and this role will be part of that work. The ideal candidate will have experience improving system stability, defining migration procedures, and providing recommendations to the business based on best practices.

You'll Get To:

- Develop, configure, and maintain the SAP Commissions platform to support compensation and incentive programs. Implement compensation logic, quota and credit assignments, workflows, and reports as defined by the Sales Compensation team.

- Manage integrations of SAP Commissions with Salesforce, Workday, NetSuite, Snowflake, and other business applications. Define integration processes, document requirements, and ensure accurate data flow across platforms.

- Perform the database work the platform depends on, including staging and validating inbound data, writing and tuning SQL, reconciling inputs, and tracing calculation or payout discrepancies back to source.

- Collaborate closely with the Q2R team on data definitions, upstream system changes, and testing, so bookings and revenue data tie cleanly to commissions inputs and downstream accrual reporting.

- Contribute to our advanced analytics roadmap by extending commissions reporting into Snowflake and Sigma, so plan performance, attainment, and accrual data sit alongside the rest of the finance data estate.

- Work with business stakeholders to review existing compensation processes and create a roadmap to leverage SAP Commissions' capabilities to increase efficiency and reduce manual interventions. Identify opportunities for process improvements and system optimizations.

- Architect and implement complex customizations, including commission calculation models, reporting, and performance dashboards within SAP Commissions. Ensure scalability and system stability with a focus on long-term performance.

- Lead SAP Commissions development projects through the full SDLC, using AI development tooling for code, tests, migration scripts, and documentation. Manage requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

- Coordinate and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with end users and business teams during the development and customization of new SAP Commissions functionality.

- Provide day-to-day support for SAP Commissions, identifying and resolving issues as they arise. Log and manage tickets, troubleshoot system errors, and ensure timely resolutions during payout cycles.

- Manage change control processes for responsible systems, ensuring compliance with SOX and ITGCs. Document changes, approvals, and appropriate signoff in JIRA.

What You'll Bring:

- 7+ years of experience with SAP Commissions, including system customization, development, and integrations.

- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

- Prior experience working with incentive compensation, commission rules, quotas, and payout structures.

- Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with relational or cloud data warehouse environments. Snowflake and Sigma experience is a plus.

- Familiarity with Quote-to-Revenue data across CRM, billing, and ERP systems, and how it feeds compensation.

- Experience using AI development tools as part of everyday coding, testing, and documentation work.

- Advanced understanding of SDLC processes, system deployment, and best practices for quality assurance.

- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, with a proven ability to document technical specifications, system configurations, and customizations clearly for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
