Design Coordinator Job Description

Position Overview

The Design Coordinator supports the design and development process for Data Center project, serving as a key liaison between design teams, clients, project managers, and other stakeholders. This role ensures design projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and in alignment with client requirements and brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Management The Design Coordinator manages design project timelines, tracks deliverables, and ensures all stakeholders remain informed of project status. They coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, document action items, and follow up on outstanding tasks to maintain project momentum.

Design Support & Documentation This role involves organizing and maintaining design files, specifications, drawings, and project documentation. The coordinator ensures all design materials are current, properly archived, and accessible to relevant team members while maintaining version control and quality standards.

Stakeholder Communication The Design Coordinator facilitates communication between designers, clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams. They respond to inquiries, clarify design intent, and ensure information flows smoothly throughout the project lifecycle.

Quality Control & Compliance The coordinator reviews design deliverables for completeness and accuracy, ensures compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements, and identifies potential issues before they impact project timelines or budgets.

Resource Management This includes coordinating design resources, scheduling team members, tracking project budgets, processing invoices, and managing procurement of materials or services related to design activities.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred. 6-8 years of experience in design coordination, project management, or similar role within architecture, interior design, construction, or real estate development.

Technical Skills Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite) and project management tools. Strong understanding of design processes, construction documentation, and industry standards. Familiarity with building codes and regulations is beneficial.

Core Competencies Excellent organizational and time management abilities with capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Collaborative mindset with ability to work cross-functionally. Problem-solving orientation with proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

Work Environment

This position requires operational from site visits. May require flexibility to accommodate project deadlines and client schedule
