Sizewell C Industrial Placement Site Environmental & Sustainability Advisor

You will work on one of the most exciting and significant sustainable energy projects that our country has ever seen, being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Sizewell C is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for at least 60 years.

Over the course of this 12-month programme, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in hands-on learning and gain experience of communications in a high-profile, fast-paced organisation.

Taking on a real job at a junior level, you'll have the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced colleagues.

The Opportunity

As an Industrial Placement Student, you will work alongside experienced environmental professionals, supporting a range of activities that help ensure Sizewell C meets its environmental commitments and sustainability objectives.

You will gain exposure to real-world environmental challenges and contribute to workstreams covering ecology, environmental compliance, sustainability, biodiversity, and stakeholder engagement.

What You'll Be Doing

This is far more than a traditional placement. You'll be immersed in the environmental management of one of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects in Europe.

Depending on your area of study and interests, you may be:

- Supporting environmental compliance across a live construction site.

- Working alongside specialists in ecology, sustainability, water management, planning and environmental assurance.

- Contributing to habitat protection and biodiversity initiatives.

- Analysing environmental performance data and helping identify opportunities for improvement.

- Supporting engagement with regulators, contractors and key project stakeholders.

- Taking part in site inspections, environmental assessments and investigations.

- Helping deliver innovative solutions that support the UK's journey to net zero.

- Contribute to environmental awareness campaigns and employee engagement activities.

Every day will be different, providing a unique insight into how environmental protection is embedded within a nationally significant project.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for enthusiastic and ambitious students who want to play a role in delivering one of the UK's most significant infrastructure and sustainability projects.

To be eligible, you'll be:

- Studying towards a degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Sustainability, Geography, Conservation, Natural Sciences, or a related discipline.

- Seeking a 12-month industrial placement as part of your degree programme.

- Passionate about protecting the environment and creating a more sustainable future.

- Curious and eager to learn, with a desire to understand how environmental decisions shape major projects.

- A confident communicator who enjoys collaborating with a wide range of people, from ecologists and environmental specialists to engineers, project managers and regulators.

- Analytical and inquisitive, with the ability to interpret data, solve problems and challenge the status quo.

- Motivated, proactive and excited by the opportunity to make a genuine impact from day one.
