Basic Job Functions:
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
The Maintenance Technician will work closely with and support our Maintenance and Production Teams. Primary responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, installing, and commissioning plant equipment. The position will assist with projects for process improvements and provide technical services and support for operations.
Job duties also include performing equipment inspections and repairs, equipment alignments, execution of preventative maintenance measures, pneumatic system troubleshooting, hydraulic system maintenance, motors, pumps and various other mechanical systems for execution of overall improvements. Operation and maintenance of heavy equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and jib cranes will also be necessary. This position will complete work orders, research parts, and schedule maintenance work.
- Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Upgrade, install, commission, and maintain production equipment.
- Support Maintenance and Production teams to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Assist with process improvement projects and technical support initiatives.
- Conduct equipment inspections, alignments, and routine repairs.
- Execute preventive maintenance programs and corrective maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Service and repair motors, pumps, and other mechanical components.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, and jib cranes.
- Complete and manage maintenance work orders.
- Research and procure replacement parts and maintenance materials.
- Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Two-year industrial maintenance degree (or currently pursuing one) OR five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience
- Must be willing to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekends, and/or holidays as needed with the crew assignment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Welding experience: MIG, TIG,welding techniques
- Previous Industrial Electrical Experience
- Previous aerial lifts, mobile cranes, overhead cranes, and forklift operation
- Experience using micrometers and other precision measuring tools along with blueprint/drawing reading
