The Vegetable Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, production, and quality of vegetables and select cut flower crops in alignment with farm production goals and culinary needs. Working collaboratively with the Culinary Team, Flower Manager, Farm Manager, and Postharvest Manager, this role ensures production targets, quality standards, and operational efficiencies are achieved. The Vegetable Manager leads by example in the field, maintains high standards of safety and organization, and drives continuous improvement in crop production systems and ecological health.

Responsibilities

- Manage production of vegetables and cut flowers to meet targets set in collaboration with Culinary Team, Flower Manager and Farm Manager
- Lead and supervise Farm Cultivation Team Members when they are assigned to your area, ensuring safety, efficiency and high work standards
- Coordinate with Postharvest Manager to ensure smooth transfer of product to processing, storage and delivery
- Maintain designated production, storage and working spaces to a high standard, driving continuous improvement of workplace functionality, ecological health and guest experience
- Create, train, enforce and continuously improve standardized processes within crop production operation
- Ensure tools, supplies and materials necessary for effective crop production are available, organized and maintained
- Ensure detailed records of operations and outcomes are captured, organized and shared appropriately
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by Southall Leadership

Requirements

- Experience with crop planning, planting, and seasonal production
- Knowledge of maintaining healthy, productive fields and crops throughout the growing season
- Experience with harvesting crops efficiently while maintaining quality and minimizing waste
- Ability to safely operate tractors, farm machinery, and other agricultural equipment
- Knowledge of compost production and its application to support soil health and fertility
- Understanding of plant nutrition, soil health, and sustainable growing practices
- Experience with irrigation systems and practices to support crop health and production
- Experience growing and maintaining crops in greenhouse and hoophouse environments
- Knowledge of organic and biodynamic farming practices and principles
