Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join the SADA contractor program in supporting a critical customer engagement. This role is ideal for an engineer who can own features end to end across a React frontend, a Node.js service layer, and a PostgreSQL data model, and deploy and operate them on Google Cloud Platform with minimal oversight. The successful candidate will work closely with the SADA Engagement Lead and Program Manager and customer stakeholders to ensure project success from initial definition through final delivery.

Required Credentials

- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production web applications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Required Qualifications

- Backend development in Java with Spring Boot, including REST API design, Spring Data JPA or an equivalent persistence layer, and Spring Security
- Frontend development in React, including state management and integration with backend APIs
- Working proficiency in Node.js for building and maintaining supporting services, including REST API design and one common framework (Express, Fastify, or NestJS)
- Ability to translate Figma mockups into production React components
- Relational data modeling in PostgreSQL, including authoring SQL queries, joins, and schema migrations
- Writing unit tests and maintaining test coverage as part of the development workflow, using tools such as JUnit and Mockito on the Java side
- Deployment and operation of applications on Google Cloud Platform (for example Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage)
- Proficiency with Git-based version control and pull request workflows

Useful Qualifications

- TypeScript across frontend and Node.js services
- Build tooling for Java projects (Maven or Gradle)
- Containerization with Docker
- CI/CD pipeline configuration (Cloud Build or GitHub Actions)
- Infrastructure as code with Terraform
- Google Cloud certification (Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Developer)
- Integration and end-to-end testing experience beyond the unit level

Contractor Scope of Work Delivery Expectations

Below covers the scope of work we anticipate the contractor supporting throughout the project timeline.

Scope and Solution Expectations:

- Design and implement application features spanning the React frontend, the Spring Boot backend, and the PostgreSQL schema.
- Build React components and views from Figma mockups provided by the design team.
- Design and evolve the PostgreSQL data model, including authoring SQL and writing schema migrations.
- Build and maintain the REST API layer between the frontend and the Spring Boot services.
- Develop and maintain supporting Node.js services and their integration with the Spring Boot backend.
- Write unit tests for new and modified code as part of the standard development workflow.
- Deploy and configure application components on GCP, including runtime services, the managed database, and object storage.
- Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines covering build, test, and deployment for both the Java and Node.js components.
- Participate in working sessions with SADA and customer stakeholders to define requirements and technical approach.
- Produce technical documentation covering architecture, API contracts, and the data model.
