YOUR IMPACT STARTS HERE

We're looking for an EHS Specialist to serve as the site-level owner for Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental programs, acting as the facility's primary point of contact for all safety and environmental compliance. In this role, you'll partner closely with onsite medical staff and plant leadership to maintain a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace, ensuring adherence to all corporate standards and state and federal regulations while actively driving continuous improvement in the site's safety culture. You'll maintain a dotted-line relationship to the Global H&S Manager to execute corporate and regulatory safety programs consistently across the organization. This is an opportunity to be the authoritative voice for safety at the facility — with the standing authority to stop any unsafe work practice immediately, pending management review.

WHAT YOU'LL BUILD & OWN

- Serve as Chairman of the facility Safety Committee

- Ensure the proper execution and effectiveness of all ongoing and mandatory safety training (e.g., fork truck driver licensing, hot metal handling, lockout procedures, ladder safety, chemical handling, respirator use, safe use of abrasive grinding equipment, and others as needed) in accordance with corporate schedules and locally generated requirements

- Ensure the completion of all industrial hygiene surveys and workplace safety assessments when required

- Ensure completion of all job hazard analyses / job safety analyses

- Own the effectiveness of the Behavior Based Safety Program

- Coordinate all accident/injury investigations, ensuring they are completed on time and consistent with corporate requirements, and that root causes and human factors are accurately identified with corrective actions documented and resolved to prevent recurrence

- Oversee the assignment of qualified first aid–trained employees and emergency responders for all work shifts

- Monitor workers' compensation claims and issue periodic statistical reports on accident rates

- Own the successful completion of all safety program requirements outlined in the Corporate Facilities Excellence Program (FEM), including but not limited to safety training and training effectiveness, safety hazard identification and resolution, and employee safety awareness

- Participate in the monthly Corporate Global Safety Conferences

- Report to the plant manager on safety, industrial health, and environmental programs, plans, and policies

- Work with the Corporate Environmental Manager to ensure timely submittal of all permitting and licensing requirements appropriate to the facility

- Work with management to formulate plant safety and environmental policies consistent with corporate strategies, and ensure employee and facility compliance with all safety and environmental requirements

- Ensure processes are in place to maintain an accurate inventory of MSDS/SDS sheets and that employees understand their right to know when dealing with hazardous materials

WHAT YOU BRING

- Safety and health technical degree with 4 years of experience, or an Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) background with 1–5 years of experience

- Proficiency and knowledge of all OSHA requirements

- Good communication skills

- Sound experience in a manufacturing setting

- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental rules and regulations
