About this role

The Church History Department seeks a Content Curator to help preserve, develop, and share the sacred history of the Restoration through the Church's historic sites. This position is responsible for researching, developing, and managing historical content that supports exhibits, historic spaces, tours, training, publications, digital products, and other visitor-facing experiences.

The Content Curator serves as the primary historical content expert and advocate for historical accuracy, clear themes, compelling narratives, and meaningful interpretation across site projects and programs. Working closely with site leadership and cross-functional teams, this individual helps ensure that the stories shared at historic sites are engaging, source-based, consistent, and aligned with departmental and divisional objectives.

This role focuses on historical content and narrative development. It is not an education-focused position. Rather than creating curriculum or overseeing educational programming, the Content Curator helps determine what stories are told, how they are framed, and how historical content is communicated across historic site experiences.

Required:

- Master's degree in History, Public History, Museum Studies, Religious Studies, Historic Preservation, or a related field.
- 7 years experience
- Demonstrated experience conducting historical research and developing public-facing historical content.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of historical interpretation and narrative development.
- Ability to synthesize complex research into clear, engaging, and accessible content.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Church history and Restoration-era historical sources.

Preferred:

- Experience working with historic sites, museums, exhibits, or public history organizations.
- Experience leading content development projects from concept through implementation.
- Views historical content as a tool to help visitors form meaningful connections with sacred places and events.
