Project Engineer

Job Title: Project Engineer I Job Description The Project Engineer I (Junior Project Engineer) supports the successful execution of capital projects by coordinating multidiscipline engineering activities, managing technical documentation, assisting with procurement and vendor coordination, and helping ensure key project milestones are achieved throughout the project lifecycle within industrial and energy environments. Responsibilities

- Coordinate engineering deliverables and project schedules to keep activities aligned with overall project timelines.
- Support project reporting by preparing, updating, and maintaining technical and project documentation.
- Manage document control processes to ensure engineering and project records are accurate, organized, and accessible.
- Facilitate clear communication between engineering disciplines, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Track action items, project deliverables, and followups, ensuring issues are captured, assigned, and closed in a timely manner.
- Support procurement activities, including coordinating with vendors and assisting with technical input for materials and equipment.
- Participate in regular project meetings and client discussions, providing engineering coordination and status updates.
- Assist with construction support, including responding to field queries and coordinating engineering input for construction teams.
- Contribute to commissioning preparation activities by helping organize engineering documentation and support plans.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to support execution of large capital projects, including EPC projects.
- Help identify and mitigate project risks related to engineering deliverables, schedules, and vendor coordination.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal engineering teams and external partners to support project objectives.

Essential Skills

- Bachelors degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil, or a closely related discipline.
- 7+ years of engineering or project engineering experience.
- Handson capital project experience focused on project execution rather than solely design work.
- Experience supporting projects within industrial or energy sectors, such as LNG, oil and gas, petrochemical, refining, NGL processing, power generation, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
- Proven experience coordinating engineering deliverables and schedules across multiple disciplines.
- Experience with procurement and vendor coordination activities, including working with suppliers on technical requirements.
- Experience supporting construction and/or commissioning activities on capital projects.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with engineers, vendors, and project teams.
- Strong coordination and organizational skills, including tracking schedules, deliverables, and action items.
- Ability to work onsite in a project environment and participate actively in meetings and client discussions.
- Familiarity with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with FEED (FrontEnd Engineering Design) projects.
- Experience with brownfield projects and modifications to existing facilities.
- Clientfacing experience, including participation in discussions and presentations.
- Procore experience or exposure to similar project management and collaboration platforms.
- SAP exposure or experience with ERP systems used for project and procurement support.
- PMP certification is a plus but not required.
- Experience working on large capital projects, including those valued at $50M or more.
- Experience with multidiscipline engineering coordination across LNG, petrochemical, refinery, and gas processing projects.
- Background with LNG export terminals, refinery expansion projects, petrochemical facilities, NGL processing plants, hydrogen projects, or carbon capture projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work in project environments rather than purely operations or maintenance roles.

Work Environment This role is based onsite five days per week in an office environment in the Post Oak area. The position operates within an EPC and capital project setting, collaborating closely with multidiscipline engineering teams, procurement, vendors, construction, and commissioning personnel. Work involves regular project meetings, client interactions, and coordination with field activities, with a focus on industrial and energy sector facilities such as LNG, petrochemical, refining, and gas processing. The environment emphasizes professional communication, structured documentation, and adherence to project schedules, while offering paid time off and holiday benefits.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $100.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
