NPI Technician

Supports assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and production of infrared imaging and electro-optical systems while working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams. May also assist with prototype builds and support RMA (Return Material Authorization) activities, including evaluation and processing of returned products.

Responsibilities:

- Build, test, and document prototype, pilot, and first-production units.

- Support the transition of new products from engineering into production.

- Identify assembly, test, quality, and manufacturability issues and communicate findings to engineering.

- Perform RMA evaluation, troubleshooting, repair, retesting, and documentation. This is mentioned in the summary but not the responsibilities.

- Create or update work instructions, assembly procedures, test procedures, and manufacturing documentation.

- Enter production, test, defect, and traceability information into the companys ERP, MES, or quality systems.

- Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions for production failures and nonconforming material.

- Support engineering change implementation and verify that current drawings, BOMs, procedures, and ECO revisions are being used.

- Train production employees on new or revised assembly and testing processes.

- Maintain tools, test equipment, fixtures, and a clean, organized work area.

- Follow applicable safety, ESD, export-control, and quality-system requirements.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum previous experience/qualification :

- Associate degree in a related technical discipline and at least two years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma/GED and three to five years of equivalent manufacturing, assembly, testing, or engineering-support experience.

- Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, specifications, and test procedures.

- Experience using hand tools, precision measuring equipment, multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, or other applicable test equipment.

- Knowledge of workmanship standards such as IPC J-STD-001 or IPC-A-610, if applicable.

- Strong documentation, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced NPI environment.

- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and ERP/MES systems.

- Must be authorized to work and reside in the US and must be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government to confirm with, but not limited to, U.S. export control regulations (ITAR).

Physical and workplace requirements

- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

- Ability to perform detailed work requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.

- Ability to lift the required amount—commonly up to 25 or 30 pounds.

- Ability to work in an ESD-controlled, cleanroom, laboratory, or manufacturing environment, if applicable.

- Ability to use required PPE.
