Job Title: Pharmacist Job Description
The Pharmacist oversees daily pharmacy operations to ensure the safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of medications in a federally qualified health center setting. This role interprets and reviews physician orders, monitors drug therapies, provides medication counseling and pharmacological guidance to patients and healthcare providers, and ensures adherence to all applicable state and federal regulations, including DEA and 340B program requirements. The Pharmacist supervises pharmacy staff and technician workflow, manages inventory and vendor relationships, collaborates with pharmacy leadership, and actively participates in departmental and leadership meetings. This position also supports staff development, maintains a safe work environment, and contributes to high-quality patient care and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe, accurate, and compliant dispensing of medications.
- Review and interpret physician orders to verify appropriateness, accuracy, and safety of prescribed therapies.
- Monitor patient drug therapies, including potential interactions and contraindications, and make clinical recommendations as needed.
- Provide clear, compassionate medication counseling and pharmacological guidance to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
- Ensure full compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, including DEA requirements and 340B program standards.
- Supervise pharmacy staff and technicians, including workflow oversight, task delegation, and performance support.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, storage, and monitoring of medication stock levels and expiration dates.
- Maintain and foster effective relationships with vendors and external pharmacy partners.
- Coordinate closely with pharmacy management partners to align operations with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Participate actively in leadership and departmental meetings, contributing to process improvements and operational excellence.
- Support staff development through coaching, training, and sharing best practices in pharmacy operations and patient care.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment that supports efficient workflow and minimizes risk of medication errors.
- Detect, investigate, and resolve potential mistakes or discrepancies in patients medications and prescriptions.
- Apply strong mathematical and scientific knowledge to accurately measure, compound, and dispense medications.
- Provide guidance on drug information, including indications, dosing, administration, and potential side effects.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping in accordance with regulatory and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with clinical teams within the health center to support integrated, high-quality patient care.
- Coordinate work schedule within the four 10-hour day structure in alignment with pharmacy leadership and operational needs.
Essential Skills
- 35 years of experience working as a pharmacist or in a closely related pharmacy role.
- Graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
- Valid Georgia pharmacist license, or eligibility through meeting the education requirements for state licensure.
- Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification upon hire.
- Strong mathematical skills and a solid understanding of scientific principles relevant to pharmacy practice.
- Ability to measure and prepare substances accurately to ensure correct dosing and formulation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
- Ability to detect, investigate, and resolve errors or discrepancies in patients medications and prescriptions.
- In-depth knowledge of drugs, including mechanisms of action, indications, dosing, and potential side effects.
- Capability to work within and comply with DEA and 340B regulatory frameworks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Completion of an emergency contraception training course approved by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE), curriculum-based programs from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy, applicable state or local health department programs, or programs recognized by the board of pharmacy upon hire.
- Experience with the 340B program is a plus but not required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish is preferred.
- Experience working in a federally qualified health center environment is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Work Environment
This position is based in a federally qualified health center pharmacy, providing services to a diverse patient population in a clinical, community-focused environment. The Pharmacist works with pharmacy technicians, clinical staff, and other healthcare professionals, using standard pharmacy technologies and equipment for dispensing, documentation, and regulatory compliance. The role follows a four 10-hour day schedule, coordinated with pharmacy leadership to align with operational needs. Typical hours of operation include Monday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the specific four-day schedule determined in collaboration with management. The environment emphasizes patient-centered care, regulatory compliance, safety, and teamwork.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
