Job Title: Phlebotomist - Scottsdale Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist who will be responsible for accurately obtaining blood samples through venipuncture and capillary collection procedures while ensuring minimal discomfort to patients. This role involves providing care to a diverse patient population ranging from infants to geriatrics. The Phlebotomist must ensure specimen integrity by adhering to laboratory procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing, while also adhering to departmental policies and procedures including quality control, quality assurance, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collection using technical skills.
- Handle and process specimens accurately by following laboratory procedures.
- Correctly identify patients and properly label specimens.
- Use appropriate tubes, containers, transport media, and storage temperatures for each test.
- Prioritize the collection process correctly.
- Follow guidelines for missed draws, recollects, or difficult sticks.
- Use job knowledge, judgment, and problem-solving skills to ensure quality.
- Utilize resources to answer inquiries for test information and basic customer-related issues.
- Follow all safety, infection control, and OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen guidelines.
- Adhere to CPL Compliance policies and HIPAA guidelines.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance programs and laboratory training programs.
- Perform procedures efficiently and determine priority.
- Use supplies appropriately with minimal waste.
- Operate equipment efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Maintain and support a service-oriented relationship with customers.
- Respect and maintain the confidentiality of customer information.
- Strive to maintain a positive work environment.
Essential Skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred certification by the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.
- Minimum training or experience in specimen collection and/or processing.
- Preferred two years of laboratory training or experience in specimen collection and processing.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the laboratory and with customers.
- Ability to read and write.
Work Environment
The work environment is a clinic specializing in women's care, with a patient population primarily consisting of women who are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or experiencing pregnancy loss. The position operates Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, in a temperature-controlled environment with exposure to biological and chemical hazards. Physical demands include light to medium lifting and manipulation of tools and equipment, requiring coordination of multiple physical operations. The role requires visual discrimination and the ability to hear alarms on equipment and analyzers.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Scottsdale, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
