This Project/Program Manager III role focuses on supporting data center commissioning and construction activities within a multidisciplinary electrical and mechanical engineering environment. The position centers on reviewing design documents and test scripts, coordinating complex commissioning efforts, participating in equipment walkdowns, and verifying that critical systems operate as intended. The successful candidate provides clear, structured feedback when corrective actions or design updates are required and applies strong project management discipline to ensure priorities, schedules, documentation, and stakeholder communication remain aligned in an active data center setting.
Responsibilities
- Review electrical and mechanical design documents, commissioning plans, and test scripts to confirm they meet project requirements and support reliable data center operations.
- Coordinate commissioning activities across internal teams, partner teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth execution and alignment of schedules and deliverables.
- Perform and support equipment walkdowns to verify installation quality and confirm that systems are operating correctly and safely.
- Track issues discovered during commissioning and walkdowns, document findings clearly, and help drive corrective actions through to full resolution.
- Apply structured project management practices to manage priorities, maintain accurate schedules, and keep documentation and reports up to date.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing timely updates on commissioning progress, risks, and required design or process changes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, controls, commissioning, and construction teams to resolve technical challenges and optimize system performance.
- Support vendors, contractors, and other teams involved in retro-commissioning activities for systems in operational data centers, including medium and low voltage power systems, generators, UPS, HVAC equipment, chilled water systems, building management systems, and electrical power monitoring systems.
- Assist in testing and balancing activities and support commissioning of pumps and hydronic systems to ensure proper system performance and reliability.
- Work independently in an active data center environment while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and documentation.
- Engage in hands-on involvement in complex decisions that influence data center quality, readiness, and overall operational resilience.
Essential Skills
- 56 years of combined experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, project management, controls, or data center commissioning.
- Practical background in electrical or mechanical engineering coupled with demonstrated project management experience.
- Knowledge of controls systems and the ability to apply this understanding in a commissioning and data center environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft productivity tools, including the Microsoft Office suite, for documentation, scheduling, and communication.
- Ability to work onsite in Sparks, Nevada, five days per week in an active data center and construction environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent with directly relevant experience; a bachelors degree is preferred for candidates newer to the field.
- Ability to make sound decisions, dive into technical details, and maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Comfort working independently while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 24 years of commissioning experience in complex facilities or data center environments.
- 12 years of experience coordinating commissioning activities across multiple stakeholders.
- 12 years of electrical design, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience working in data centers, including exposure to operational and construction phases.
- Construction MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) experience supporting large-scale projects.
- Experience with medium and low voltage power systems, generators, UPS systems, and HVAC equipment such as air handlers, exhaust fans, and variable frequency drives.
- Familiarity with chilled water systems, pumps, hydronic systems, and testing and balancing practices.
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).
- Strong interest in continuous learning and the ability to grow by working alongside experienced electrical, mechanical, controls, commissioning, and construction professionals.
Work Environment
This role is based 100% onsite in Sparks, Nevada, within operational and construction data center environments. The position involves working in active facilities that house medium and low voltage power systems, generators, UPS systems, HVAC equipment, chilled water systems, pumps, hydronic systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS). You collaborate daily with multidisciplinary teams spanning electrical, mechanical, controls, commissioning, and construction disciplines, gaining exposure to high-growth data center projects and complex technical decisions that directly affect data center quality and readiness. The environment emphasizes safety, reliability, and thorough documentation, and offers the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers while contributing to mission-critical infrastructure.

This is a Contract position based out of Silver Springs, NV.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $54.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
