Job Title: Junior Steel Detailer Job Description The Junior Steel Detailer supports structural steel projects by creating detailed models and producing shop and fabrication drawings used by the fabrication shop to build steel components. This role offers close training and mentorship from a Lead Steel Detailer, with a clear path to increasing responsibility and managing multiple projects over time. It is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to grow in structural steel detailing within a friendly, full-service fabrication environment. Responsibilities

- Create and maintain detailed models for structural steel components and assemblies.
- Produce accurate shop and fabrication drawings for beams, columns, plates, and connections.
- Read and interpret architectural and structural design drawings and translate them into clear, buildable detailing packages.
- Coordinate regularly with the Lead Steel Detailer and fabrication team to address questions, incorporate redlines, and keep projects moving smoothly.
- Apply a high standard of accuracy and professionalism to all work, maintaining organization and meeting deadlines.
- Learn and follow company standards and workflows while ramping up on initial projects.
- Progress from handling one project at a time to managing up to three projects concurrently as independence and proficiency increase, while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.

Essential Skills

- At least 1 year of steel detailing experience in any capacity or industry.
- Foundational experience with steel detailing through work, internship, coursework, or training.
- Ability to read and understand design and shop drawings and convert them into accurate detailing packages.
- Basic knowledge of structural steel, drafting, detailing, fabrication, and steel erection concepts.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing precise, buildable drawings.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow under the mentorship of a Lead Steel Detailer.
- Dependable follow-through and ability to stay organized and meet deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Exposure to AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- General computer skills, including familiarity with Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with structural steel terminology and general industry concepts and standards.
- Interest in developing a long-term career in structural steel detailing within a fabrication environment.

Work Environment This role is based in a shop environment within a smaller, full-service steel fabrication operation that has an excellent customer base and a friendly, collaborative culture. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You will work closely with one other steel detailer who is at a Lead level and provides mentorship and training. The environment emphasizes quality, reliability, and teamwork, offering hands-on exposure to the fabrication process and opportunities to grow your skills as you take on more projects and responsibilities.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
