Job Description:

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Career Engagement, the Career Advisor leads specialized advising within one or more of Berklee's seven Career Communities (business, composition, design, education, health/wellness, performance, production). Guiding undergraduate, graduate, and online students across the College and Conservatory, this role empowers student artists and alumni to navigate industry trends, build professional skill sets, and forge meaningful industry connections. At Berklee, your work directly supports the next generation of creative leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Specialized Advising & Career Education:

- Student Coaching: Provide 1:1 appointments, drop-in sessions, and group workshops offering specialized career guidance tailored to the music, performing arts, and entertainment industries.
- Professional Prep: Educate students on job search strategies, networking tactics, resume writing, interview prep, salary negotiation, and leveraging tools like LinkedIn.
- Alumni Guidance: Coach alumni on career transitions, job/internship opportunities, and graduate school while ensuring access to Berklee Career Manager resources.

Community Leadership & Academic Partnership:

- Career Community Lead: Lead assigned Career Communities, collaborating with faculty and department chairs to deliver tailored career programming and educational content.
- Internship Advising: Serve as an Internship Advisor, maintaining an assigned course load of internship students each semester to foster career-ready experiential learning.
- Signature Events: Support the planning and execution of major department events, including Career Jam, the Job Expo, Industry Trips, and specialized boot camps.

What You'll Bring

- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years of experience in creative industries (music, performance, design, production), recruiting, or higher education career services.
- Industry & Advising Expertise: Passion for performing arts and creative tech, backed by knowledge of career development theories, hiring trends, and recruitment practices.
- Communication & Outreach: Exceptional presentation and writing skills to deliver engaging workshops, communicate with partners, and draft student outreach collateral.
- Tech & Digital Savvy: Comfort with digital platforms, social media, content design, and specialized career management software.
- Core Attributes: High cultural competence, an entrepreneurial mindset, adaptability to fast-paced creative environments, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Hiring Range: $49,000 to $59,740 ; salary dependent on experience and education.
