Job Title: IT Buyer Job Description
The IT Buyer plays a critical role in supporting the procurement of materials, equipment, and services essential to building and launching Terran R rockets. This position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and finance teams to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective purchasing that supports innovative aerospace manufacturing. The role focuses on IT and indirect purchasing within a manufacturing environment, leveraging ERP systems and strong supplier management to optimize value for the business.
Responsibilities
- Process purchase requests into purchase orders using ERP systems efficiently and accurately, ensuring data integrity and timely order placement.
- Manage invoice workflows and cleanup activities to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate procurement and financial records.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, finance, and other internal teams to gather procurement requirements and translate them into clear RFQs and purchase orders.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms with suppliers to optimize cost, delivery performance, and overall value for the organization.
- Manage and maintain supplier relationships under the guidance of Category Managers, ensuring quality, reliability, and responsiveness.
- Resolve procurement issues throughout the lifecycle of an order, including handling invoice discrepancies, delivery delays, and order changes.
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives aimed at improving procurement processes, reducing costs, and enhancing supplier performance.
- Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and procedures while maintaining accurate documentation in ERP and related systems.
- Use Excel and other tools to analyze purchasing data, monitor key metrics, and support continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience within IT or indirect purchasing.
- Minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Odoo, or NetSuite for purchase order creation and procurement workflows.
- Proficiency in purchase order creation and end-to-end order management.
- Strong invoice management skills, including the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Solid understanding of general supply chain and procurement processes.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills in pricing, lead times, and contractual terms.
- Proficiency in Excel for data analysis, reporting, and tracking procurement activities.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and finance teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting strategic sourcing initiatives and continuous improvement in procurement.
- Familiarity with managing supplier relationships in collaboration with Category Managers.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing transactions within ERP systems.
- Ability to prioritize multiple purchase requests and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills to clearly convey requirements to internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Analytical mindset to evaluate supplier performance, cost structures, and process efficiency.
Work Environment
This role operates in a manufacturing environment located in Long Beach, supporting the production of advanced aerospace systems. The IT Buyer works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and finance teams on-site, using ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Odoo, or NetSuite, along with Excel and other standard office tools. The environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, focused on precision, reliability, and continuous improvement in supply chain and procurement processes. Appropriate professional attire is expected to align with a modern manufacturing and office setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Long Beach, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $48.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
