Key Responsibilities
- Manage Work in Progress (WIP) reporting to ensure accurate project financial tracking, revenue recognition, and profitability analysis.
- Partner with project managers to maintain accurate project financials, billing information, and profitability reporting.
- Oversee project accounting activities and support informed business decisions through accurate financial reporting.
- Manage and support client invoicing processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contract requirements.
- Assist with client and subconsultant contract administration related to project billing and financial management.
- Monitor accounts receivable and collaborate with project managers and clients to support collection efforts and timely payments.
- Oversee and review payroll processing to ensure accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for leadership and project stakeholders.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting documentation.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities for accounting team members.
- Partner with leadership and operational teams to provide financial insights that support organizational goals and performance.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.
- Experience within an engineering, architecture, construction, consulting, or other project-based professional services environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including staff supervision, coaching, and development.
- Strong knowledge of Work in Progress (WIP) accounting and project-based financial management.
- Experience with project accounting, project profitability analysis, and project billing.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred
- Experience with project accounting or project management software platforms.
- Experience supporting contract-based billing and revenue recognition processes.
- Proven ability to improve processes and strengthen internal controls.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Work Environment
This position is based onsite in the Indianapolis area and supports a collaborative finance team within a project-driven professional services organization. The Accounting Manager will partner closely with leadership, project managers, and accounting staff to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong project performance, and operational success.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
