NPI Lead Engineer, Global Capacity Planning
The NPI Lead Engineer, Global Capacity Planning is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and executing global manufacturing capacity, footprint, and investment strategies that support business growth, operational excellence, and customer commitments. Based in Billerica, MA, this role leads capacity planning, manufacturing network optimization, site readiness assessments, and capital planning initiatives to ensure manufacturing capabilities, infrastructure, and resources align with current and future business needs.

Partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Business Unit leaders, the successful candidate will develop capacity models, perform scenario analyses, evaluate manufacturing readiness, and drive initiatives that improve throughput, optimize asset utilization, and mitigate capacity constraints. This position serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing data-driven recommendations on manufacturing ne ork strategy, footprint
optimization, capacity investments, risk management, business continuity, and global expansion opportunities.

What You'll Do

Capacity Planning & Manufacturing Strategy

- Primary responsibility is to develop and execute medium and long-range capacity plans aligned with business growth and customer demand.
- Develop and maintain capacity models, scenario analyses, and planning tools to support strategic decision-making and investment prioritization.
- Lead global manufacturing footprint and capacity planning initiatives, including network optimization, regionalization, site expansion, and capacity balancing.
- Analyze demand forecasts, capacity utilization, equipment constraints, labor requirements, and capital needs to identify capacity gaps and expansion opportunities.
- Evaluate manufacturing site capabilities, scalability, readiness, and investment requirements to support growth and operational objectives.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), manufacturing transfers, production ramps, capacity expansions, Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and High-Volume Manufacturing (HVM) programs.
- Develop capacity expansion roadmaps, business cases, ROl analyses, and capital expenditure (CEA) recommendations.
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, Quality, and Business Units to align manufacturing capabilities with business priorities.
- Monitor key manufacturing metrics, including throughput, cycle time, yield, productivity, capacity utilization, and OEE, to drive continuous improvement.
- Identify operational, capacity, and supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies to improve resiliency and business continuity.
- Prepare executive-level analyses, reports, and recommendations to support long-term manufacturing and investment decisions.

Strategic Global Footprint Planning

- Develop and execute global manufacturing footprint strategies aligned with long-term business objectives.
- Evaluate manufacturing sites for capability, scalability, cost competitiveness, and risk to support investment and expansion decisions.
- Support site assessments for NPI, manufacturing transfers, capacity expansion, and HVM initiatives.
- Drive footprint optimization through site expansion, network rationalization, regionalization, and manufacturing transfers.
- Conduct network modeling and scenario planning to support manufacturing strategy and capital planning-
- Provide executive leadership with strategic recommendations on manufacturing network design, footprint investments, and global expansion opportunities.
- Travel globally to support site evaluations and strategic manufacturing initiatives.

What We Seek
Education

- Bachelor's or master's degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, industrial engineering, supply chain, capacity planning, or manufacturing strategy within a global manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in capacity planning, manufacturing footprint strategy, network optimization, factory expansions, and manufacturing transfers.
- Strong expertise in capacity modeling, scenario planning, demand forecasting, resource planning, and manufacturing network analysis.
- Experience supporting NPI, production ramp-up, capacity expansion, and High-Volume Manufacturing (HVM) programs.
- Demonstrated success developing business cases, CapEx/CEA requests, ROl analyses, and capacity investment strategies.
- Experience evaluating manufacturing capabilities, capacity constraints, equipment utilization, labor requirements, and infrastructure readiness.
- Strong track record leading cross-functional initiatives across Onerations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, Quality and Business Units
- Experience leveraging manufacturing performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and improve operational efficiency.
- Proven ability to influence executive decision-making through data-driven insights and strategic recommendations.
- Exceptional collaboration and influence skills across global organizations.
- Experience in semiconductor, advanced technology, electronics, medical device, specialty chemicals, or related high-tech manufacturing industries preferred.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, enabling effective data analysis, dashboard development, reporting automation, and executive-level presentations. Experience with Power Bl is ideal
