Operations Technology Associate
As a Digital Operations Technology Associate, you are the site point of contact for OT information security, ensuring manufacturing, greenhouse, laboratory, automation and facility systems remain secure, reliable, highly available and compliant with Bayer cybersecurity and risk management standards. The role manages hardening assets, vulnerability remediation, maintain documentation and procedures, supports incident response, and helps ensure regulatory and audit requirements are met.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity standards, security baselines, and hardening requirements for site operational technologies.
- Ensure new systems, technologies, and infrastructure changes comply with corporate cybersecurity policies and standards; document and track approved exceptions.
- Support engineering, operations, and capital projects by providing cybersecurity and infrastructure guidance throughout design, implementation, and commissioning.
- Review, administer, and execute approved firewall, network security, and remote access changes in accordance with established governance processes.
- Perform identity and access management activities for OT systems, including account provisioning, deprovisioning, access reviews, and audit support.
- Support the security, availability, and maintenance of OT infrastructure, cybersecurity platforms, and site-critical operational systems.
- Coordinate vulnerability management, patching, configuration management, and remediation activities across the OT environment.
- Monitor cybersecurity alerts, risks, and incidents; participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and recovery efforts.
- Serve as a technical resource for cybersecurity and infrastructure-related initiatives, supporting site operations and continuous improvement efforts.
- Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and enterprise technology teams to ensure secure and reliable service delivery.
- Maintain cybersecurity documentation, asset inventories, risk assessments, and compliance records.
- Prepare and communicate status reports, risk updates, and technical recommendations to site and technology leadership.
- Independently identify and address cybersecurity and operational technology risks while escalating significant issues as appropriate.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required:
- B.S. degree in Cyber Operations, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field OR 4+ years applicable business experience
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions and recommendations to drive actions
- Ability to convince teams to test out new processes and methods regularly
- Wide experience in orchestrating programs across different functional organizations and allocated resources to ensure continuous engagement
- Proven ability to grow relationships with key partners and suppliers
- Ready to think, behave and act in an innovative consulting manner to drive the organization's digital business strategies
- E xcellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work on site in manufacturing, greenhouse, and laboratory environments and follow site safety and PPE requirements.
Preferred:
- B.S. degree in related field with 3+ years relevant professional experience OR Master's degree in related field with 1+ years relevant professional experience
- Foundational knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing/switching, firewalls, wireless) and information security principles (access control, patching, system hardening).
- Hands-on exposure to network or security work through internships, co-ops, coursework labs, or personal projects.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximate ly $90k-135k. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive program (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..
