Job Overview
The Rackspace Internal Audit team is looking for a Technology (IT) Audit Intern who is interested in technology, cybersecurity, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and risk management and wants to gain hands-on experience in a global Internal Audit environment.
As an intern, you will work alongside experienced Internal Audit professionals and gain exposure to technology and integrated audits across areas such as cloud environments, cybersecurity, data management, technology controls, AI, and automation.
You will have the opportunity to learn how technology risks are identified and evaluated, assist with audit testing and data analysis, and explore how AI and automation can be used to improve audit processes and reduce manual work. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in technology auditing while developing your analytical, communication, problem-solving, and emerging technology skills.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Support technology audit projects involving system security, technology controls, cybersecurity, and information security.

- Security Infrastructure
- Technology programs and implementations
- Artificial Intelligence and emerging technology risks
- Assist audit team members with gathering information, documenting processes, and performing audit testing.
- Perform data analysis to help identify trends, exceptions, and potential areas of risk.
- Use AI and automation tools to assist with data analysis, audit testing, research, and other audit activities.
- Identify repetitive or manual audit activities that may be candidates for automation and help develop or test potential solutions.
- Experiment with new AI-enabled approaches to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Internal Audit activities.
- Help review technology processes and internal controls under the guidance of experienced auditors.
- Collaborate with business and technology teams to obtain information needed for audit activities.
- Assist with documenting audit results, observations, and supporting materials.
- Participate in meetings with Internal Audit, technology, cybersecurity, and business teams.
- Learn how audit findings and recommendations are developed and communicated to management.
- Contribute to special projects, AI/automation initiatives, and other Internal Audit activities as needed.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Interest in technology, cybersecurity, AI/automation, risk management, internal audit, or cloud computing.
- Basic understanding of information technology concepts and business processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Curiosity about AI and emerging technologies and a willingness to experiment with new tools and approaches.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, processes, and audit concepts.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or academic projects related to cybersecurity, information systems, auditing, accounting, data analytics, AI, automation, or risk management.
- Experience using generative AI tools for research, analysis, problem-solving, or productivity.
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Excel or other data analysis tools.
- Exposure to scripting, workflow automation, data visualization, or low-code/no-code tools is a plus but not required.
- Exposure to cloud technologies, cybersecurity concepts, or IT controls through coursework, projects, internships, or extracurricular activities.
- Interest in pursuing a career in technology audit, cybersecurity, technology risk, AI/automation, or internal audit.
- No previous professional audit experience or certifications are required.
