About this role
ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.
Responsible for the maintenance/installation of all locks, manage/maintain key system, door hardware, exit devices, alarms, entry systems and all associated components.
Basic Responsibilities:
a. Works as directed by the immediate supervisor and/or Director of Physical Resources.
b. Develop a preventive maintenance program for all doors and hardware.
c. Install, repair and maintain all locks, hardware, doors, exit devices and alarms , entry system and all associated components.
d. Re-key locks for security purposes, cut and issue keys to authorized personnel.
e. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of all keys and locks.

A.
1. Follow established rules, policies and procedures of the Physical Resources Department and University.
2. Order materials and supplies as needed for the completion of work assigned. 3. Fill out work orders and written reports daily.
B.
1. Display necessary initiative to work alone or in groups.
2. Be on call 24 hours a day.
3. Put together estimates for minor projects.
C.
1. Maintain all building-betting list of the University.
2. Develop key schedule through computer software programs.
3. Control security of building key inventory.
4. Cut keys and re-key locks as needed.
5. Install and maintain door closers.
Qualifications:
Professional
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Four years of related experience as a locksmith.
3. Licensed as a certified locksmith.

Professional Development Requirements:
Skill Required
1. Knowledge of key cutters and key systems
2. Able to operate portable drills and miscellaneous hand tools
3. Able to interpret hardware schedules, blueprints , plans sketches, work orders and etc...
Training Modules Required
1. Continuing education as required by the University
2. Locksmith training course
3. Computer training as needed
Physical demands:
A. Be able to perform manual labor
B. Good health and stamina to lift carry and pull loads in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
C. Must be able to climb ladder and work in adverse conditions.
Relation to other jobs:
- All departments depend on the locksmith to maintain the security of all campus buildings. In addition, because the Physical Resources Department interacts with virtually every areas of campus life, a pleasant relationship that is supportive of the Physical Resources Department objective is essential.
- To accomplish this objective, workers are occasionally required to perform work not related to their specific trade.
